The guys at Jiffy Lube left grease on my carpet (next time I'll put in the all weather matts). I tried 303 fabric cleaner and the worst of the grease came out, but the area where I applied it is slightly darker - maybe it just moved the grease around or maybe I didn't rinse it well enough. I guess I can try it again, but don't want to make things worse. Anyone ever use household carpet cleaners like resolve? The carpet has 303 protectant on it - once I get it clean, will I need to reapply?

The slightly darker coloring could be due to the moisture. If it's a "dirty" darker, try another application. I've found that most household cleaners don't take on grease/oil all that well. You might try a dedicated degreaser or even some "waterless hand cleaner." (the type that's in a jar, like GOJO and such-don't use the ones with pumice.)

Grease and oil will need a mild solvent cleaner.
303 Cleaner and spot remover (carpet/Upholstery) will remove grease stains. I use it in my boat all of the time. Spray on 303 then use a brush. Let stand then wipe dry. Then I use a fan to dry out the spot. Once dry you wont be able to tell where the spot was.
I dont like to use a solvent cleaner because It can stain your carpet.

Try some Goop Hand Cleaner which is ~ $1 for a 14 oz. tub at Walmart. Use it on tough carpet grease stains by working some product well into the dry stain. Cover the area with some plastic wrap so that the stained area remains well saturated with the cleaner. The longer you let it dwell the easier the stain will remove. Rinse/extract with water and the grease will be gone.
