Grand Cherokee Cladding

My 97 cladding is starting to show signs of age. Is there a cleaner/ conditioner to use for this? I've black magic on the black stuff, however I didn't want to use it on this stuff for fear of

a "bling bling" look.

P.S. When using a foam app. and #26 sometimes I still have a lil water drop here and there. Is this bad? What I mean is, sometimes I hit these before I notice, could it break down the integrity of the wax?

Oh yeah, do I have clearcoated leather seats? Its a laredo? Was using the seach and didn't realize that some seats come with protectant?

THanks for the help...:bounce

A few questions. Whats your location? What products are available to you? Are you willing to order? Are the water spots dried?

Check out the e-book and the use of the search function will help to answer your questions.

good luck

Look for a product called Black Again (not Black Magic). It's a restorer/dye sort of product that will improve the looks of plastic cladding and lasts a good while. I believe CMA sells it.

A little water here and there won't hurt anything. Just dry the area and redo it with #26. No big deal.

One easy way to tell if leather is clearcoated: Put a little bit of water on the seats and see if the water beads (yes) or soaks into the leather (no). I can say that virtually all modern leather is clearcoated in order to make the coloring more durable. Leather in BMW, MBz, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari, etc is different and not clearcoated.

Right lane: I'm in New Orleans and have a pretty good amount of product around me. Also, I have no problem with internet orders. As for the water spots, I was talking about when you dry the whole thing, wait a lil while and come back there is still some water that you didn't get. When that happens, I might be waxing under the mirror or around the roof rack and I hit a lil water. Is that going to compromise the wax job?

BretFraz: Thanks for the response. I'll look for that product. DO they have a webiste? Also, my water beads, what should I use? Stick with Lexol cleaner/conditioner?

Look here for Black Again: http://www.properautocare.com/exterior-trim.html

If you are already using Lexol, great. It's fine for your leather. If not also consider products from Eagle One, Pinnacle, Meguiar's, and others. Read about proper leather care here: http://www.properautocare.com/leatcarprod1.html

Think I could use that (black again) on my door gaskets? I've been using spray silicon on them to keep them rubbery?

Thanks for the link....by the way, that book is some good stuff...

Well, that seems quite an expensive idea. Black Again aint cheap. If you want to protect rubber gaskets use a water based protectant like 303 Aerospace or Vinylex. Most of us here use these two or similar products with terrific results.
