Seriously, why not go to your own insurance company and have the car repaired under your comprehensive coverage and let them sort out the subjugation with the other insurer.

Comprehesive? A) It's not a Comprehensive loss B)He can go through his own Insurance company and Subrogate, but he'll have to pay his deductible.

i would just continue to get a couple estimates. For some reason even $800.xx sounds low but i could be very wrong since we arn't able to physically see the damage.

Start with the estimates and then see what the insurance adjuster says and go from there. If things get ugly you can always talk to your insurance company and see if they will assist you in talking with the responsible parties insurance company.

Bottom line is your car needs to be returned to the condition in which it was in prior to the accident.

As for what David had stated about painting black . . . . black is the worst color to have painted as every little perfection shows much more in black then most any other color. If the prey and painting isn't done correctly you will for sure see sanding marks, bad body work and painting.

It will all work out . . . . . its just the waiting game until he comes out.

Thanks for the insight David. There is no damage behind the dent and when the pan was added, the whole truck was painted after. Do you have any tips for me getting what I want? Do you think its even possible to have the whole bed done(minus the tailgate). I know its asking alot, but I just dont know how well that blending or whatever is done is going to hold up over time as Ive never had it done on any of my vehicles before. Do you have any expeirence with it?

Yeah, waiting is going to seem like forever. Everytime I walk to my truck I see the dent. :down

You can get 10 estimates, it won’t help. An estimate is merely jus tan opinion. What matters is taking it to a reputable shop and allowing them to negotiate with the Insurance company on the best possible & realistic repair.

Playing Devil’s advocate; there’s no guarantee that his own Insurance company won’t be worse.

From a painter’s perspective, solid black is easy. It can be tinted to match much easier than any other color. Defects will show up on any color and that’s a result of poor prep and/or spraying, not so much the color. Any respectable painter/bodyman won’t be faced with sanding marks from bad bodywork. If that’s a complaint from a shop I’d run for Z hills. Detailers hate black, not so much painters

Gotcha. I’d take the truck to the most expensive, high-end shop in your area. Call your closest Ferrari dealer and see how they send their work to and check them out. Ask them is they accept local prevailing insurance rates and check out their finished work. If you’re happy with the work the shop that painted it prior, why not take it back to them?

You shouldn’t have any problems with the paint holding up if you properly maintain it.

Long story short, the shop that painted it prior left it with a ungodly amount of swirls, after wetsanding it. It is not the same shop mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thats good to know about the blending. Thanks.

You're right, I meant to type collision coverage but regardless he should get his deductible back after subrogation. In this scenario, his own insurance agent/company is likely to take better care of him then the other would. This also eliminates the tactics of stalling, lowballing and making him jump through hoops that often comes from the other company/adjuster.
