Can't wait to test it out. Also got a bunch of LC pads :)

Be sure to check the allen screw that holds the backing plate on, there have been a bunch of loose ones from the factory that has caused damage to the backing plate. I would also check it before each detail.:waxing:

I ordered it from Detailed Image. Great service, quick shipment and a good bit cheaper than some of the other sites.

When you take off the backing plate there is a felt ring that some say needs some light machine oil - I oiled mine but I had backing plate damage even with a tight allen screw. I ended up filing down the back plate so it doesn't make contact with the housing and that seem to of solved the problem. I do like the machine but it does have problems with the backing plates!

that isn't going to be the case for everyone. just like anything else, there will be few problems here and there...
 
Very nice setup. Be very careful about using the yellow cutting foam pads, though. I'd use the PFW pads every time instead of the yellow cutting foam. Those pads are just nasty.
 
I soaked my felt ring in Mobil 1. Dabbed off the extra (really well) so I wouldn't get dripping or slinging, and have not had an issue lately. I do not regret the purchase though. What an amazing machine.

What do you mean they are nasty? The only pads I have experience with are the LC orange, white, and red pads.



Is there a good, descriptive link to the Flex problems everyone keeps referencing? I don't want to risk messing mine up. Thanks!
 
LC's yellow foam cutting pads are well known for leaving nasty compounding marks/haze. You'll get much better cut and finish with PFW.

Agreed. I had a nightmare on my hands when I tried a yellow pad out on a black 760I the other week. Luckily the PFW saved the day.

It's a really long thread. I think most of the important stuff is in the last few pages, but the whole thread is worth reading.
