Got Keyed....

Just Got Keyed... 2007 Dodge Caliber.... Both Sides of the car, two on each side of the hood, Not even a month old... check out the pics... After feeling, it does not feel that deep... Still does not help how f@*kin pissed I am. Wondering if anyone has seen something this bad, and how much did it set you back.. Please give me hope.... Any Advice or help will be appreciated...

Some people just dont deserve to live!!

Did you talk to your insurance provider yet? I guess if the whole repaint thing doesnt work out you could do a paint touchup/wetsand but it will take some time and patiece and in the end might not look perfect. Very sorry to hear that it happened to you.

Why would someone do that? just from the pics, it looks like it'll need to be repainted. Those would be awful hard to touch up and get looking right IMO.
 
NOT COOL! Surprisingly I have always owned new model vehicles, always detailed, and always parked away from the group and no one has ever keyed me.

I feel soo bad for you, seeing as if someone ever even dings my door I would go out on a spree.

Man, if that was my truck and I caught that person who keyed my truck. I would whip out my Makita Angle grinder setup speed at 20000 rpm w/6" sanding disc and...........................you know rest of the story goes :D
 
OUCH!!! That really sucks especailly on a brand new vehicle too! Talk to your insurance about a repaint because touch up and polishing won't work out IMO.
 
no touch up paint, you would still see lines of paint that doesn't quite match, especially in an area that large. Insurance should cover you, just take the car to show them.
 
Like several have said, contact your insurance company and have them take a look at it.
Then: Try polishing out some of the damage and see how it goes. When my Asto van was keyed, I was able to polish out 99% pf the damage. When I was finished with it, very few people would ever see it, and then, only if I told them the panel to check. If it's through the clear coat, you won't be able to do much with it, but it would be worth spending some time with before having a new vehicle painted. You can't hurt anything if you are going to be painting those areas anyway.
I used Meguiar's #83 DACP, a Meguiar's polishing pad and a PC at a speed of 6. It took some time. If you are proficient with a rotary or know someone that is, the process would be much faster with the rotary.

I'm along with everyone else this looks like a call to the insurance company and a repaint...that's really to bad and I'm real sorry to hear about it
 
Damn dude thats bad i'm feelin for ya. Actually I have seen worse seeing that you asked. I know someone whose car got key'd all over, spray painted and acid poured on the hood all at once.

I'm with Charles, have been there and done that...after I had the insurance company look at my Black 442 and got them to pay for the paint repair, I used 2000 sandpaper and some Pro Polish with a cotton towel and rubbed my butt off...when i was finished you couldn't find the key mark except for one small area that went through the clear...
 
Sorry to hear that, that is a messed up thing to do...

I have gotten lucky to and parked far away from everyone and never had that happen....

However, I recommend doing what other people said...GOOD LUCK.
 
Ya, I usually keep it detailed, and park far away... But this was at my apartment complex when this happened. Thanks to all for your comments.
 
I have had a car totally destroyed in my youth by my babies momma. LMAO. On a brand new car. It was the best thing that ever happend to me. It only cost me $100 bucks on a $3500 repair. I got a new set of Low pro tires, Great paint job, Piped seats, new stero system. Talk about pimping my ride.

Call your insurance company an tell them that your car was vandalized. They have what is called and uninsured motorist deductible which doesn't/shouldn't affect you or your rates. I think last i check mines is $250.. Owe and if you now who did it give them their name and take their asses to court. Atleast have them tried.

You can try to get them out if you like but hey....
 
This type of claim falls under your comprehensive coverage for vandalism. You will have to pay the deductible, but it should not effect your insurance rates since it was not your fault unless you have a lot of claims on your policy. Make sure you talk to your ins. adjuster before attempting a wet sand and polish to see if you can repair the dmg by yourself. They will make you take your vehicle to an autobody shop for pics and an estimate or they will send an adjuster out to you to do the same. Uninsured motorist is liability coverage and only comes into play if someone hits your vehicle and you have their id and they do not have insurance then your insurance company takes care of the liability.

Yeah, I was in the same boat as you. I bought a brand new truck and within 2 weeks it was keyed at work. Just filled out a police report and filed the claim with my insurance company. It was $125 deductable (with farmers) and the resprayed area looks better than the stock paint.

Oh and as for revenge, instead of the angle grinder (requires power) another option is this stuff called aircraft remover. If the world knew about it people would be screwed. You can buy it at walmart its basically a spray on paint stripper...right down to bare metal. Bad stuff if ya ask me.
