Got fired today from shop today. Going to reopen old shop
Time to get reeducated on the right ways to do stuff
The reason i got let go was the brought in a customers truck
to remove seats to clean up a spill i told customer to take it to the dealer to have air bags turned off. She didnt do it The boss said that he had never had problems before so guess what they took out the seats and kaboom the side bag wnet off.

I was in the other end of the building when it happend My offical title there was service writer. He go po at me about the way it went down i had marked on the service order that air bag decativation was recommend and not done gave the customer a copy and now the ex boss is mad cause he is going to have to pay for the repair. So today was my last day there

I am now going to have you guys eduacate me on the right way to buff and polish since i dont seem to be up on the the higher end chemicals and stuff I know that in a previous post i kind of mad my self sound like the know all of know alls when it comes to chemicals but those are what i was used to using I went to a shop in another town today and look at some of there work and was amazed at how the difffrence of what they turned out for work and what the shop i was at did it was a lot better look to the end product. they also charged alot more than we did they were getting 240-350 for a compolet detail are price was 25-175 and the time that we spent doing a 175 was about 1 -2 hours the shop in the other town was taking 6-8 hours to do one car and probally making more money . any help question or comments would be great thanks

sorry to hear about your ignorant boss detailguy. but I have a ? why was the truck even there if the side air bags weren't turned off?

It doesn't sound like you're too upset about being " let go " ..are you going to apply at the other shop?

Hey detailguy,

Sorry to hear about how your week ended. It's unfortunate since you went through the proper steps to avoid this situation.

I was just bustin' your chops about the Snap-on stuff. Quite frankly, if the customer service was that good, that means more to me than the products themselves. While I pride myself on having tried a lot of what is out on the market, support is always a key.

Have you considered body shop work? The guys at the shop I apprenticed at always were buffing, and never had a guy there full time to handle all the people who wanted their car detailed (now they go to me) :D Not quite sure what area you are in, but that might be worth a shot.

Hope it all pans out for you well in the end.

yes but they want to see a sample of my work and i dont think that it will come even close to what the kind of quality that they want most of the work that i have done is from used lots and you slap them in and ship them out and that is the grind that i have gotten into use any thing and do any thing to make it shine and ship it

DG - Sorry to hear about your situation - it really sucks that you tried to do the right thing, but are being blamed for you boss's incompetant, "slam, bam, thank you ma'am" attitude. Personally, based on what you've said about their "work ethic" or lack thereof, I'd say you're just as well out of there!

Just a suggestion . . . could you spend a day or two on your own car and use that as a sample of your work? Or how about a relative's?

Good luck in your future endeavours,

Norah

Dont feal bad i got let go once becase i was only given 2 hours of how to open a store and close it 1 fore each. then for the next 3 weeks i worked by my self untill the last 30 minutes where the shift change came in.

Well the 3rd time i see the manage she tells me where going to let you go caus the you dont know what you are doing and where getting customer complaints. I told here maybe if you actually worked and trained the emps. we would know wth we are doing. I laughed my ass off all the way home.

Dont let it get to ya

I got fired once for violating someone's civil rights. But then I got rehired. It will all work out in the end. Getting canned kinda sucked, but when I came back I was sort of a legend. Haha. Good luck in your future endeavors!!

Not your fault you wanted to do it the right way and yet they refused. Maybe this is a step in a right path to future sucess not working at that ignorant shop anymore.

It's unfortunate that you were let go for doing your job correctly.
but it's not the end ....it's a new beginning.
I am sure that you will find a place that will appreciate your hard work, and dedication to doing things correctly
