GOT BOUNCED! can i get my job back?!? LONG STORY

OK... everybody is entitled to their opinion, whether you agree with it or not.

But I think it is better to focus on the positive than the negative. I'm sure that Joy with be working again soon enough either at his old club or maybe a new one.

This isn't just a matter of having an opinion. This is a matter of having an opinion that sucks like Monday. You don't just come in and tell people that they have to just deal with what life gives them. Joy has all sorts of options and to tell him that he is just screwed so get over it is plain mean. Personally I'm surprised to see theamcguy posting in a thread that wasn't giving something away. Now that I know what kind of guy he is I guess I should be glad he sticks to the freebie threads.

Come on now Leyland. Just because you can't be smooth with the ladies is no excuse for not being smooth with the dudes either. :whistling Remember that opinions are like bumholes. Everybody has one and they all stink. Some stink worse than others, so let's just everybody drop it. There has been enough axing going on lately to begin with and I don't feel like playing the bad cop this weekend.

Sorry to hear about losing the smooth gig, dude. I'd be bummed too if that happened to me. I'm sure your parents will steer you in the right direction. But consider that this is a place that obviously wanted to get rid of you for some reason. Do you really want to work somewhere that they are looking for the tiniest thing to give you the axe for?

losing a job sucks. unfortunately this was the first time ive ever lost a job. let a lost one for something i had nothing to do with.

im probably going to do private security work at private parties. one of the promoters of the club found out about my dismissal and he freaked. he knows that i wouldnt take anything overboard or hurt someone without reason so he offered me a job for the private partys. obviously its not steady but its something and the money will stay the same if not better with tips.

so yea. once i get that first paycheck expect me to buy a ton of new products and whore my car a bit on the forum here. :)

jobs will come and go, but bouncing isnt something im gonna do the rest of my life. its something to put extra cash to spend along with the money i make at the parents gig. 7 more years at U.M. and ill be where i want to be.

You guys need to get a dose of reality this IS how life works. Bad stuff happens to good people. I didn't say it was right I just said it was reality. Life is not like high school. There are no do overs, no one will boost your self esteem, your boss will not hug you when things go wrong. You got fired, big deal move on and move up. Henry Ford's Ford Motor Company was actually the 3rd car company he started, he got fired from the first two when stockholders felt he was going in the wrong direction with building a cheap car. Feeling sorry for yourself and drowning in the "man that sucks" from others doesn't get it done. Successful people are the ones that can make ice cream from horsexxxx. That's a whole lotta experience talking.

The attitude might be harsh, but your points are absolutely correct... I'm just not too sure they apply here.

Let me explain. First off, I've owned 4 clubs and just closed on the 5th, so I speak from the "whole lotta experience" side on this one. Joyriide1113 wasn't terminated on legitimate grounds. He lost his job because management made a half-hearted attempt at limiting liablity from a potential lawsuit.

The backwards logic goes something like this... "but look, you don't want to sue us for physical harassment, etc, etc. We already fired the bouncer responsible for the problem. Come on back to the club and we'll set you up with a fat tab for the weekend and everything will be good, right???"

Wrong... unless joyride was the bouncer responsible for the problems, and that is not the case. Even with at-will employment guidelines that game will not fly. That's why joyride has every right to file a claim, if he chooses. I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort, but that's for joyride to decide.

I would like to see club owners take some initiative and have a professional come in and teach de-escalation techniques, and some simple restraining techniques.

The other problem i see is the bartender. It isnt fair to expect the bouncers to pick up the trashed guy and take him out, he shouuld have been cut off long ago.

A professional bartender and bouncer can spot power drinkers, and trouble makers a mile away, i know i can and ive never done either.

Just as cops and CO's have protocols and training, anyone who is expected to at some point get physical should also.

Big roided muscles, a gold chain, doesnt make a bouncer.

I would like to see part of the job interview to handle someone being hostile, in yer face, not co operating, then have to be removed/restrained. Lets see how well people perform with adrenaline pumping.
