Got a SHARK tonight!

Hey Bee.. are you talking about the shark or the unit you purchased?

The one I have. It only steams when you push the red button on the handle. The button is kinda cheaply made, though. It has a tendency to get stuck in the "On" position. So just when you're afraid of melting something, it won't shut off right when you want it to. Don't ask how I know that.... ;)

Just remember that it's easiest to ask for forgiveness than permission. :xyxthumbs

Pretty obvious that you've never met my wife

I don't have a hard time justifying the purchase since I can use it around the house and it will help make money with the cars I detail. Having something unexpected arrive though with money spent she didn't know about.......that's a different story.

I have the shark unit and it works well for me around the house. Oh and Motorcity it does have a on/off switch for the steam.

Trigger pulled, based on SuperBee364's choice. Thanks! Not to stray too far, but if I may....can you offer any hints on attachment and process for best hitting the leather sofa? That was my biggest catalyst for getting away with forgiveness-over-permission, although I do see us using the SF-276 on a lot of things in and around the house.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. :)

I've used the triangular brush attachment with a MF wrapped around it on the leather couches. It works really well. Just make sure you keep the head moving at a pretty good pace to keep from damaging the leather. I've cleaned so many things with the steamer now... trash cans (including the big curb side cans. Took the stink right out of em), tile, grout, couches, walls, wood floor, windows, shower, tub, baseboards, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, toilets, kitchen and bathroom counters, and the soap/fabric softener dispenser out of the clothes washer. And yet the wife still hasn't used the clothes attachments. :hmph:

I've used it a very little bit in my car. I keep my car interior pretty spotless, so there's not really much to use it on. I had a really bad set of black marks over the shoulder belt attach point, and it did a very good job of cleaning it up. It's still just barely visible. My wife's SUV is going to get a very good steaming job soon, inside and out.

Let us know how it goes on the sofa. I hit my sofa with some Zaino leather conditioner after I used the steamer on it. The leather looks brand new.

Got a SHARK steam cleaner from Lowes tonight. It was on sale for 20% off so I got it out the door for like $85 including tax. I tried it out on my leather couch. It was like dirty water running off of it. Anyone have any tips for using it? For carpets do you just pretreat with say Folex and agitate it then steam it and blot it? On nasty interior do you spray an APC on it then steam it or just straight steam? Looking forward to using it on some cars.

Im goin to check the Lowes here I pray it is on sale. I have been tellin my fiance she needs one to help her around the house and if we have one I would even clean the bathroom :chuckle: She knew I really wanted it for the cars. But today she was talkin to her sis who has the shark and tellin her how much she loves it. She comes to me and says can we get a steamer? Haha so now I am getting I mean she is getting a steamer

Ok well before I take my trip to Lowes I did a lil surfing and found this New Low Price! - SteamFast Best Buy SF275R SteamMax 1500W Steamer Cleaner, Steam Fast SF-275 up to One Hour Usage on Full Tank - Factory Serviced

Hmmm Shark or Steamfast? I did not see any 20% off at Lowes.com so the units are the same price.

You probably already know this, but just in case.. the one from your link is refurbished. They finally got restocked on these McCulloch MC-1275 Multipurpose Steamer Cleaner MC1275, 1500W, 35PSI, 50 Oz Tank, 12' Cord, 13 Pounds, up to1 Hour Usage & 10 Attachments. They are new in box, not refurbished, and it's the same unit. Supposedly the McCulloch has a longer steam hose.

Got a dog? That's how I justified my extractor to the wife. Works for pet messes in doors, as well as the cars. Her dad and I are getting ready to go halves on a Honda pressure washer...the justification is we can use it for the concrete driveways, patios, pool area, houses and cars. Actually, my wife is pretty good...she gives me a lot of slack when it comes to buying toys for detailing.

I have a shark, but see it's uses for the auto somewhat limited. Wheels, door hinges, under the hood with care....but see little use elsewhere (in the car anyway - more uses in the house).

Worse....I have a 9 1/2 month old that crawls everywhere and spits up on the carpet. That might be all the justification I need. We do have a dog, but she is rarely let into the living room and the hallway/kitchen/dining room have wood laminate flooring.

Would you recommend the McCulloch over the Shark?

That's a really tough call. They are very comparable machines. I have heard that the McCulloch has a longer steam hose, but that's not verified info.

I think either one would be a good machine.

I *think* the Shark comes with the same attachments as the McCulloch. I just noticed on the McCulloch page that it's status is "Advanced Orders Only", whatever that means. It looks like it might still be out of stock. The page used to say "out of stock, late May availability". They have removed that text, but replaced it with the Advanced orders Only...

I guess calling them would be the only way to find out for sure what the stock status is.
