I've finally decided to jump into PC buffing instead of all by hand (damnit I'm tired after my details
) I've been checking out CMA and I've come up with a few questions.
What is the difference between the PC 7424 and the PC Ultimate Detailing Machine? The 7424 is 130 and the UDM is 150... and they appear to be the same. Is there any point in dropping the extra $30?
What do these come with? They've got a kit for 60 bucks that has a 6" velco backing plate, 1 lambswool pad, a yellow cutting pad, 2 white polishing pads, one grey finishing pad, and 2 terry bonnets. I doubt I'll be doing any serious paint leveling with this, so I don't really need the wool pad right? And I do all my waxing by hand (S100), so I really only need the yellow cutting pad and white polishing pad for DACP (yellow), then Swirl Free and VMW (white). Correct?
Well, the thing is that I don't see these pads for sale individually. Can I get away using the white Replacement Porter Cable Foam Pads for 7 a piece for DACP, Swirl Free, and VMW (a seperate pad for each)? They're the ones that have the backing plate glued to the pad...so this would eliminate me needing to have to buy a backing plate too right?
How long do these pads tend to last?
Counterweights.... whats the deal with these?
Ok, I think thats all of it. I think I'll be going with the 7424 and a few of the Porter Cable replacement pads unless you guys convince me differently.
Thanks a lot for the info... I don't know where I'd be without this site. :bow
