i detailed some kids a few apartments away's acura CL about a week ago. Well, today his roommate came up to me and said "dude josh's car looks amazing!'. First really genuine compliment I've ever gotten like that, the source always tells you it looks good, but hearing it from a roommate etc... was really cool, let me know how they genuinely felt.

ANyway, just gloating :)

I like it when they ask where I got my paint job. ;)

....especially since my car is 14-years-old and is knocking on 278,000 miles!

Scott, I know that feeling. My truck is a 1993 with red single stage paint. When I purchased it the paint had some pretty bad oxidation going on. After cleaning it up the previous owner was like "whoa where did you get the truck painted at?!". spetulla congrats on the compliment. It sounds like you did some good work.

About three months ago, an elderly gentleman waited for me to finish paying for my gas at a BP. He approached me and told me that he had my exact car, but he couldn't believe how good mine looked. Recognition for an older car's appearance is always welcomed! The fact that he stood around for 10 minutes or so compounded the enjoyment. You have to like standing out from the "shiny tires" crowd, even if it's just one person.

I got the same thing the other day too!

I was at the gas station that I regularly fill up at, and the cashier who is there 80% of the time I fill up asks me, "Where did you get that new paint job? I've been looking for a good body and paint shop."

I was about to reply, "Well, I gave it #9, #7, then #26." But I didn't want him to look at me as if I were crazy. Instead, I just gave him a simple, "I waxed my car yesterday."

I always get compliments on my details. :)

My boss caught me coming in the other day and asked me if I wax "that thing everyday". I laughed and said no, it was just washed this weekend, but hasn't seen anything else for 2 months :)

The biggest thing I love to see is peoples face when I pop the hood :)

I like the double take, neck snaping, eyes following you, etc, body language compliment, as you drive by or when your at a stand still.

That is the most sincere compliment!

Reading the above, I thought I'd post a (low res, sorry) pic of my 15 year old baby.

It's a well tuned little speedster and the slick paintwork helps it to slip through the air. This is after a weeks accumulation of rain, bugs, tar, you-name-it...

Some folks admire it and touch the paintwork, but most just see the view above. ;)

Happy driving!

Cal :D
