Google Adwords Effectiveness?

Anyone here get good results from this form of advertising? Im having a hard time getting thoes "base clients" before the word of mouth starts to have effect.

For what you pay per click, Google Adwords is very effective. The great thing about this type of advertising, is usually the person searching is actively looking for auto detailing services. With, many other types of advertising you are just fishing for people who may be interested in auto detailing services.

What was your advertising budget per month? Being a college student and part time worker I cant spend $1,000 or more per month for advertising. As of now I have it set up to target only my town and surrounding areas, nothing is official yet because the account isn't active. Also do you guys have any tips and tricks to help maximize my investment here? thanks.

I've tried a few different routes with adwords.

The first was a low per click budget and the next was an unlimited per click budget.

The unlimited per click budget was gone in 3 days and was not worth it, in my case. The low per click budget actually got me some business.

$60 per month brings just enough new traffic that it's justifiable. Any more and I am burning money.

We used to bid on "[city name] auto detailing" and paid about $1 per click.

We got a about 1 paying customer per 30 clicks. Our profit per customer was about $230 (a lot of customers opted for PDR, window tinting, touch up, bumper repair, etc. so we had a high profit/customer). So, we spent $30 to make $230.

Most months our Adwords budget was about $300. Other than craigslist, I never got a better return on my marketing investment.

Didn't work that well for me. I had a $100 budget and didn't see as much traffic as I have from simply being listed on several search engines as a business. But I got a 100 dollar coupon to try it again the other day for a month so I will fire it up for another 30 days.

I really think it depends on your individual market, and how many people actually use Google to find services. It also depends on your choice of keywords and how much you bid for those keywords.

The return will be the same whether you're spending $60 or $600 given a long enough sample period. Don't be afraid to raise the budget.

What's interesting is that most of my customers day they found me on Google. None of them, though, when I was doing adwords.

Could be the way you targeted the campaign. I use the geo-targeting which lets me target a specific radius out from where I live (20 miles).
