good plan?,.....a bit long.

Hello all,
I have a brand new Acura TSX (month old) that I want to keep looking REALLY good. It is black, so that is a challenge in itself. It has not been driven too much and has been sitting in my driveway for the past month while I am not driving it. I have been busy/and away,.......so I have washed it a bunch of times when I was home,.....but nothing too crazy. My parents took the car out one night and didnt put the E brake on all the way,.........rolled into the house nextdoor and scratched the bumper. I have to get that fixed before I get some work done on the car. Upon close inspection of the paint the other day, Im questioning weather the dealer actually waxed the car before I picked it up,.......but I can certainly see buff marks on the car. I think the car needs a minor polish etc before putting on sealant (im going to use four star UPP) because of the weather beating it has taken sitting in the driveway. I know, I know,...shame on me for neglecting it for a month.

Since I am new to all this detailing stuff,........I was thinking that it might be a good idea to take the car into a detailer and have them do a really good job on the car so the paint is really good etc. Then I can do the detailing/maintenance myself after the fact.

Does this sound like a good idea? Get a detailer to do the car,....sealant and all,....then just do it myself after the fact. Does anyone know a GOOD DETAILER in Toronto or surrounding area that I could go too. I dont want any crap jobs done on the car. I want it looking newer than new.

Frist off welcome to the site!!

Most dealership are famous for the swrils but not to worry.....If you can afford to have someone polish the car out I would go that way to start.....I'm pretty sure that we have a few memebers here from your area.....You can get the car up to par then do the daily / weekly cleaning to keep it up.....I would not trust the dealership to do this work look for a private detailer in your area.

I agree. Unless you have the time and want to get some products and supplies (which you will want to get sometime) and tackle it yourself. More than likely the dealer did not wax, but just polished your car and created some of the swirls you see. Typically you will want to wait somewhere between 1-3 months to put on a sealant and wax on a brand new car.

If you wish to tackle job yourself, thats great, do some reading and feel free to ask questions.
If you want a professional, to polish it out for your first and then you will do the upkeep, still do some reading and ask questions.

Either way I'm sure that your car will look great.

Where would I find out where some detailers are in my area on this site? Should I start a thread or something,......or is there a section I can go to?

Because I understand this to be a

brand new Acura TSX (month old)

car with new paint. New paint typically needs to "cure" before being covered with sealant or wax.

Not that new, the paint on brand new cars has probably been outgassing for the better part of 2 months, it was also baked to withing an inch of it's life at the factory. An original spray is ready for wax from delivery.
