Good OTC topper???

I gave the TWPUG a try based on several of the recommendations here, not because I needed it but because, like many on here, I enjoy trying different products. All I have to say is, wow, that's not my fathers turtle wax anymore! My car is red and has UPP x3 and several applications of Natty's and I think it looks pretty good as is but the TWPUG really brightened it up. I'll have to wait and see about durability but I usually can't leave it alone long enough to find out how durable it is. I may play around with multiple coats or topping it like Bence suggested but it's pretty impressive just the way it is. Thanks for the info guys. :bigups

im glad everyone who tried it seems to like it... now the rest of u, go buy some, now! lol...

I used the liquid, because the paste is not available in Europe. It would be nice to know more about that too.

Since the first application, I layered it a few times, just for fun! When you just caressing the surface, it is definitely layerable, and it won't use its mild cleaners. Its slickness has a pleasant side effect: after a rain it is drying almost spot free. :bigups

OK, so I posted that on 7/11/05. This past weekend, or roughly three weeks later, it appears that the TWPUG is gone along with the amazing beading. Three weeks of some really hot weather, two hand washings, several CD's and a couple of rain storms did it. So while I really liked the look, I think I'll try something that will last a little longer. I recently got some Collinite Insulator wax #845 and some Megs #16. Neither looks as good as the twpug IMO but the Megs is close. Which of those two would be the most durable?

My TWPUG holds on very well, but I haven't done anything with it. No washes, no QD, no nothing, just to see its durability. My car is pretty spotty now (after 4-5 weeks), but even this way, the TWPUG works, beads good. Still looks classy.

It may be that kind of product which is designed to bead for only a limited time then the polymers take over. Mine is still slick, and the water spots are easily removable. No hard residue; the dust circles come off with a tiny little swipe (just to see how hard they stick; intentional).

For durability, choose the #845 and top the TWPUG with it. Using TWPUG as a topper, is not always good, because some carnauba pastes can numb down its outstanding appearance. I'm sure that the #845 over the TWPUG combo will be an exceptional one!

Ah yes, and it squeaks under my MF even when absolutely fresh, so there IS protection along with the squeaking!!!

im not surprised. i love turtle wax a lot but its definately not worth a dollar in the durabilty department. my guess its mainly made up of 15% carnuba, 20% oils, and 65% solvents.

the solvents themselves actually diminish the carnubas protective qualities. don''t expect anything more than 3-4 weeks max. i compare it a lot to souveran in mainy aspects.

But if it only lasts 3-4 weeks on "our" correctly prepped cars, what kind of durability does the average joe get ???

Hence the weekly waxing routine, Glad using inferior product are behind me (as long as I can afford it).

I tried the TWPUG paste wax today on my black PPG repainted sentra and I must say I was VERY impressed with the results. I layered it ontop of some Zaino and it does look very nice. Some observations include:

-SUPER easy application
-Removal was not hard at all, but I did experience some dusting.
-I thought it took awhile to really haze thoroughly....about 15 minutes or so.
-Amazing wet shine!!
-Super smooth finish...running my finger tips over the paint...it is like silk.
-it did sprinkle a bit outside after I application and it beaded very well indeed.

I might try to put a second coat on tomorrow before the show...I cant believe this is a Turtle Wax product. Very good recommendation, Joyride. This has become my current topper of choice! Durability isnt an issue since Im usually obsessivly applying coats of something. Rock on, Turtle Wax! :badabum

:yeah :bigups

the detailer is simply the best. lubricity sucks, so does cleaning, but gloss and depth is way out there. i love it.

so let me get this strait, use the TWPUG as a topper to NXT? I have been using NXT and am happy with it, but for somethign extra I was gonna use P21S. Do you think the Turtle Wax is better and do you think the cleaners will affect the NXT? Sorry for the noob question :book:
