Good OTC last step products for single stage

I'd *GUESS* that the M26 (that's what you mean by "yellow wax", right?) would last longer. But I dunno which product's *look* you'd prefer. GENERALLY I think Souveran looks perfect on every color/paint under the sun, but I tire of redoing it all the time. P21s looks "bright/shiny/shallow" to me by comparison and didn't last all that long either. Been forever since I've used M26 but IIRC it darkened/richened/etc. the look and lasted a little longer than the other two but not as long as M16 or Collinite.

Just another weird FWIW, I used to use Malm's liquid wax on all kinds of paints (including SS) and I really liked it. It seemed similar to the liquid version of M26 only it did everything better for me. Never hear of anybody using Malm's any more...

I said it before and I'll say it again, I always loved how NY black clear coated car looked with zaino.

If I could get my ss car similar I'm happy.

Two coats or more for ss of sealant?

heh heh, "different strokes" definitely applies here, I'd strip Z off of (any) black paint!

For that look, I kinda wonder what my usual fave FK1000P would look like...the time I did *not* like it was an instance when it kinda looked that way and it might be exactly what you want.

Since you posted that, I would *not* recommend that M26 after all, I think that'd be the wrong look for your taste. The P21s might be close to what you want though.

Looks aside, is the m26 a good filler for fine scratches or swirls? This ss paint has been pretty rough and I had to do two passes with M105 on some flat panels.

Striker- Only two? I often do a *lot* more passes than that but if anything I oughta commend you on not overdoing it and taking off too much paint in search of perfection.

I doubt the M26 would do much hiding, but then I've never used M21. On the other thread you mentioned that you were considering UQW; others say it does a bit of concealing...didn't do it for me on the '93 Audi, but maybe that's just too far gone to expect anything.

Good news is that ss doesn't shout out its flaws the way B/C does..IRL you can get by with it being far from Autopian.

Yea, some spots I did about three times. I couldn't get these scratches out in the quarter panel doing it only twice.

I was also worried about the holograms caused by 105. I just hope 205 can give me a hologram free finish.

Keep in mind I'm working it with a rotary.

Striker- Ah, I forgot about the rotary...at least the holograms aren't as big an issue as with b/c...even *I* did OK on single stage back when I was in practice.

just remember that single stage paint is usually very thin compared to modern 2 stage paints. slow and easy does it. good luck !

Polishing ia finally done. I applied one coat of m21 sealent and it turned out great. One thing I noticed right away is how this thing repels dust! Before when the car had nothing on it, it was an absolute magnet.

Thanks, it definitely was!

My only issue is applying m21 by hand. Says to apply thin, but thr stuff doesn't exactly spread too well, especially if you're doing it panel lenght. However, applying it in a circular motion reaps better results.

I sprayed a little water on the hand applicator. Maybe I should try spraying some uqw?

I put a small X on the applicator and then kiss the applicator onto the paint/panel and then spread in straight lines when I use M21 by hand. It seems to spread out better that way. I have never had to use any water or wetting agent to spread it.

If you are getting streaking issues, which is rare with M21, you can use either UWQ or UQD. If you are going to apply M26 over M21 I would use something like M34 or UQD.

If you are enjoying the dust repellency then you may want to stop at M21. M26 will attract more dust.
