What kind of masking tape is good to use to mask off other areas? I heard 3M is good but is their a specific one for auto paint, I always see the blue painters tape from them but is that OK to use on car paint? Thanks

I use the blue all the time. I've had no problems with it. If you have a Costco membership, it is available in a 4 pack for about 10-11 dollars.

I bought the blue painters tape, I passed a Sherwin Williams store and just got from there on sale with the bonus smaller roll included

The blue tape is fine for paintwork and glass and some trim, but the the green (3M 233+) has a bit more adhesion and the green dye doesn't come off on your pads. Neither tape will stick very good to DRESSED rubber and trim though.

I attending a water color workshop (for teachers) last week. They used art tape to mask water color paper onto boards when painting. It was white and you get it at any art supply store. It had a nice feel to it and I thought it would work very well for this purpose.
