I have the products and polishes to buff out sanding scratches..with that said is there certain sand paper I need to use or can I just go to pep boys and pick up 1500-3000 grit wet sandable sand paper...

I see a lot of you use your DA's to sand and Megs pads well I was just wondering if regular sand paper would work or is there something specific I have to look for.

Using good sandpaper can make all the difference. At least get the Meg's stuff.

FWIW, I just did a bit on one of the beaters with Mirka Abralaon disks, both via PC and by hand. 2000 to correct, 4000 to refine (and M105 takes out 4K scratches just fine). I *really* like the Abralon disks, the foam backing makes 'em user-friendly and holds water. Not quite idiot-proof, but Accumulator-proof, which is close enough for me :D

Haha thanks. Is there a difference between megs 2000 grit and just normal 2000 grit from store?

Yeah, well...depending on what the "normal" stuff is. The Meguiar's/Nikken (and the latest 3M and the Mirka) will have more consistent abrasives than cheapie stuff and thus be far less likely to leave "tracers", which are VERY deep RIDS you might not be able to fix.

Really, I'm not foolin'...get *GOOD* abrasives for this stuff. Then it's not all *that* hard to do OK. Getting "bad paper 2K scratches" out, OTOH, can be a challenge.

I'd try to do the "delayed gratification" thing and order some good stuff if you can't find it locally. A five-pack each of the 6" Mirka disks in 2K and 4K wouldn't cost all that much and I'm pretty confident that you'd love 'em. Here's the Mirka store site...gotta search around on the 3 pages forever to find specific stuff (hint: look for stuff priced $16.99, those are the 5-packs), but anyhow, here's the link: Mirka Tools Dealer of Mirka Abrasives | MirkaTools-Online.com
