going to order a PC but what pads

should i get? i have a new infiniti fx 35 that i did with menzerna acrylic jacket followed by p21s. looks great but when i detail it in the spring (not my daily driver, sits in garage) i want to try the PC after wash, clay and perhaps try FMJ folowed by wax. my daily driver is an audi with swirl marks and a few minor, fine scratches so obviously it may need some more aggresive correction in the spring (winter in illinois is coming). i was thinking a couple green pads if i use the one step (or some have suggested white) acrylic jacket, but if i apply FMJ, would i use black or red foam pads? if i need to correct the swirls and fine scratches on the audi i assume i would need a more aggressive pad (orange) coupled with one of the menzerna polishes. is there a difference in which pad i should use for a german clearcoat for sealant or one step product application versus japanese or am i thinking way too much about this? thanks. just getting my christmas gifts lined up so Santa can order them.:thumbup:
 
I have found that I use the orange cutting pads the most. I buy them by the dozen!

#2 would be the white polishing pads, and #3 would be the black pads for sealant application.

I have a few of each of the others but those are the ones I keep going back to.

How would you compare those to the LC Hydrotech Cyan and Tangerine for cutting and polishing?
 
The Hydro Tech Cyan foam pad is somewhat a moderate - aggressive polishing / cutting pad, it's designed for using on moderate to severe defect removal while still finishing to a high-gloss, nearly mark-free finish, just like a AIO polish. Lake Country Hydro-Tech Cyan foam pad is alittle less aggressive than the Lake Country Yellow cutting foam pad, but still finishes as almost as the orange power pad. The pad is great for using for moderate to heavy cutting polishes.
The Hydro Tech Tangerine ultra fine polishing foam pad is somewhat a moderaterly light polishing foam pad that will remove compounding mark's and swirl marks that will finishing also a hologram-free finish on the paint. The HydroTech Tangerine ultra fine polishing foam pad is less aggressive than the Lake Country Orange power pad but is more aggressive than the Lake Country white pad while producing a finish on your paint that is almost equal to the Lake Country Black finishing pad. The pads are use for light - moderate cutting polishes. Hope this helps you out Leadfootluke.

Thanks Angelo, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

I have been using the LC Hydro-tech Cyan and Tangerine, but I had not, however, used either the Orange or White. My questions was essentially, Orange and White for my next pads, or Cyan and Tangerine, but the Hydro-techs seem to be the best choice.

And another question, I am trying not to hijack the OP, but I hope this is benefiting him as well, but what size pads? I have 4" Cyan and Tangerine but would like to move up to bigger pads. Would the 6.5" pads be too much for my PC7424XP?
 
The 5.5" size pads are the best IMO to use, remember when cleaning them up to make sure they are dry before using them again. Just like any pad you would use.
 
These hydrotech pads are interesting. I like a 2 pad solution. Would a tangerine/m105 followed by a cyan/m205 combo yeild good results on a moderate to fairly heavily swirled vehicle? id be using a PC and 5.25 and 4 inch pads. How many pads should one order to complete a large vehicle (dodge megacab) in one session? Would 3 pads of each color and size be enough?

You're going to want to reverse that. Cyan/M105 and Tangerine/M205.

And yes, it is a great combo.
