Going to do ONR, last min questions

Im going to use ONR today. I was scared to use it straight off on my salt-caked M3, so i did a spray off first. We'll see how it turns out later!

Boost- let us know how it turns out for you, and what you used to clean it with (what kind of mit/brush/appliance).

With ONR... If i do it in a garage and do my wheels wont all that dirty brake dust crud on there get on the garage floor with the water? (asking its not my garage) Also what is everyone useing to do a onr wash? (Mits, towels, etc) Actual product names would help.

Also could I spray on a wheel cleaner then use onr to wash it off to get stubborn dust off?

I guess mostly what towels should i get?

I got a huge amount of brake dust water on my driveway floor..I pretreated the wheels with onr at QD solution and then took a Megs wheel brush and started scrubbing. It wasn't fun. My drying towel was caked with brake dust and the wheel wasn't even halfway dried yet. Any ideas for this? My wheel wasn't THAT dirty.. It seems like rinsing is a must..

I wouldn't do the wheels in the garage. Use a Sheepskin Mitt (Eurow), and any quality MF towel for drying...brand really doesn't matter too much, as long as its soft.

You will not go worng with this product as long as you follow label instructions. I use a sheepskin, and no problems at all! ScottWax use this (as far as I know) on really dirty cars, and he has no problems at all with it. Just make sure you do the wheels last.

Next ONR wash I will use my virgin Schmitt, as I've read nice reviews about it. I will keep you all updated on my results...

The brake dust on the wheels will hit the ground depending on how much water you use just as the dirt on the panels will. I use a 2gallon tank sprayer and a Montana Boars hair brush on the wheels and tires. For the wells I use a power puff sponge on a stick thing (walmart) and or a cheap sams club or costco mf towel. I wash the body with a chenille mf sponge (one side mf the other side mf chenille) from Target. I dry using two cobra super plush mf towels. I've used wheel cleaners and even acid on a few wheels and tires, rinsing with ONR from the sprayer. A trigger bottle instead of the tank sprayer also works as does using a bucket.

I used ONR last weekend by following the directions and did not have a problem, except just always was kind of wondering if I was doing it right, did I have enough on my MF sponge, was I applying to much pressure, etc...

So, let me ask a question a different way, what should one definitely not do?

Edit, I realize that is an open ended question, so re-phrased; for those of you who use the prduct frequently, can you describe what you would think would be common mistakes or learned tricks? TIA

Yes it will, I sweep it away with a push broom.

I'm using a grout sponge from Home Depot to wash, first wipe with a generic MF towel, final dry with big blue WW MF from CMA. If the water doesn't bead much I'll apply EO WAUD (using it up) or OCW before first wipe.

ONR seems to be an effective wheel cleaner by itself.

I really like ONR and use it a lot now. But lately we've had a lot of salt on the roads and I'm concerned about all that salt getting on the underside of the car. So I've been skipping the ONR and taking it to a local self-serve pressure wash place to hose down the underside. Over here it's not practical to use your own bucket and mitt to wash in the bay. Therefore I end up using the brush and soap they provide which I know is against all things Autopian but I figure I can just polish it out this Spring.

Just curious why it's not pratical to use your own bucket and mitt? What about bringing your own brush? If the brushes provided over there are anything like the things they provide here........:soscared: :D

Over here the petrol stations only have 1 self-serve wash bay. So other drivers in line waiting won't be so happy with me hogging the bay while I ONR. Also I have to sheepishly admit that I'd be somewhat self concious ONR'ring in a public place. :o

The brushes are not great here either, I try and rinse them out beforehand and then I brush very lightly. Hopefully they won't salt the roads too much this week, then I can ONR in the privacy of my own parking space.
