As some of you may know, painting cars is a hobby of mine. Since I recently purchased another car, and since the paint is completely full of water spots, etched beyond repair, and its black of all colors. Here are a few pics of the car.

So the question is , what color should I paint this car?

I have 2 choices, either

1)Black

or

2)Candy Apple red..kinda looks like this

Ditto on the Candy Apple. Do you have two sets of wheels for this car btw?

Its the same set of wheels, one of the pics is right when I got the car. I had later on westsanded, primed, painted, clear coated the wheels blk. But If i do go for the Candy Apple, Im gonna paint the rims "chrome"(yes they do have paint like this now) and chrome out the Grill as well.

While I'd love to look at/detail that red candy, I wouldn't go overboard with the chrome-look on the trim, guess I'm just pretty conservative about such stuff.

And the practical side of me is whispering that you can *never* touch up/spot in candies/pearls or any of the other neat paints :(

Go with black non metallic, I absolutely love that Candy color but not for a Lexus, newer candy colors maybe better but all non pearled candies Ive seen fade to the silver base over time.

I like the candy, but not for the Lexus. I've seen several here in Austin in different shades of candy, but I think a full blacked out Lexus would look sweet. Tinted windows, lights, rims, grills, badges....you get the idea.

roadmaster_Tx,

The "Thread Tools" link at the top of the page should have the option to add/edit a poll. I think that's available to you as the thread starter, but I can't be sure as my login has moderator privileges attached to it, so I may be seeing options that you don't have.

I would (just me) a really really dark mettalic blue like its so dark that at first you cant really tell if its black or blue, but at the right angles you can really see the blue... but thats just my .02

I couldnt agree more. That candy-apple is an amazing color but no way will it look good on a newer Lexus. Please stick with Black

I still couldn't picture a relatively conservative mid 90's Asian car with that color. Black is the only way to go for that car, IMO.

Who am I to argue with an Air Force guy? Same reason why I dont argue with my father! I just think those candy colors do not belong on a car with that style. They look great on old cars (custom street rods and some muscle cars) but I can not picture that color on a Lexus...unless your going to put a huge wing, a rediculous body kit, street glow and a tach the size of Flavor-Flave's clock on it too!
