Gloss-It

New guy to the forums, long-time obsessive car washer. I've been using Gloss-It products for years and am surprised that there aren't more reviews out there. I currently use their shampoo, quick detailer, and drying towels. I've used their wheel gel in the past and will probably buy more in the future.

The quick detailer is great and streak free. You must buff it off, but it never leaves an oily residue.

The shampoo always leaves me scratching my head. The soapy water doesn't really feel slick in your hands, but I always have little to no clearcoat artifacts so something must be working correctly. It foams well initially but resides quickly as it is a low-foaming product. Despite this, it sheets well off the car.

Their big drying towels are super soft and have no exposed threads or seams. They soak up a ton of water but do shed a fair amount.

One thing to say is that their products are incredibly expensive compared to most. Even with that, I always end up going back to their products.

I'm curious to hear about experiences that others have had with Gloss-It products.

Just looked at their web site. Doesn't thrill me. Either they need better pics or their micro looks like wally-world stuff. The "polish etc reminds me of DG stuff, and I would rather buy DG from here and have the piece of mind. (since I know it's a reputable product from a reputable dealer.

Just my opinion, but it gets my hackles up when a person signs up and says "you gotta try this stuff, there aint nuttin better out there"

If you're not a shill, then accept my apology, but somehow either a shill or ego comes to my mind.... (call me paranoid) {putting on my tin foil hat and asbestos undies}

Would a "shill" solicit opinions?

Thanks for the warm welcome and the first impression. Stay classy.

never heard of gloss it products. anyone else ever hear of or use gloss it products ?
sorry, but i had to look up a definition of shill "A person engaged in covert advertising. The shill attempts to spread buzz by personally endorsing the product in public forums with the pretense of sincerity" is this a correct definition of shill ? just asking.

on the nose

So aside from the thread hijack, anyone have experiences with this stuff? I'm more interested to hear about experiences with the shampoo since I continually wonder how it compares to other products. I've only used a few (Meguiar's Gold Class, Sonax, to name a few) and wasn't overly impressed. I've got a gallon of Hyper Wash on the way as I've heard good things about that for foam gun use.

I use Black Fire products that IMO are some of the best out there! As far as "Gloss-it" goes I think a customer tried to give me some one time and I never used it because it had a very solventy smell to it like Nu-finish. I just assumed it was garbage.

I have heard of Gloss-It before. From my memory they were very overpriced and I had some Detailers that I respect and look up to have some major issues with the owner. Just based on those 2 things I decided to move on and not worry about them.

I too have heard good things about Black Fire. I'll have to put them on my list of products to try. Maybe you had some funky Gloss-It?....the QD and shampoo both have a nice fruit smell.

the soap and "polishes" look like (by web site description) to be dura gloss re-branded

but their micro looks like junk

Life is so much easier and pleasant without hate. If you know the owner, then send him my regards and ask for a free trial. Maybe he'll treat you better than how you treat forum newbies. Mebbe.

and I prefer to buy QUALITY products form QUALITY companies

I too like to buy quality products. That's why I joined this forum. Unfortunately it appears that you think your opinion of something overrides that of others.

An observation: you stated that my first post was based on being a shill or having ego, yet your signature line says "but normally right". I humbly suggest an introspective look as most who cast judgement in this world are typically projecting their own unfavorable traits onto others.

My first post is based on personal experience with a product and I am soliciting for the experiences of others who have used the same. If you don't fit that category, then it appears your posting would of inflammatory nature (trolling). I haven't looked yet, but I'm confident that trolling is probably against this site's terms and conditions.

Just watched some vids on youtube of some guy using Gloss-It products. Not impressed by his technique. He used the same boars hair brush he used to clean the wheels on his tires. He kept going back and forth on the tires and wheels.
