Glaze

Have a black 2005 mustang. Until now have been using:

PB SSR1

PB Polish

PB SEalant With Nuba

Natty's.

All done with a PC

I like the wet deep look i got with the sealant and Natty's...but not real happy with swirl and scratch treatment.

I want to try something new...a glaze! I have heard good things about ClearKote....red moose machine glaze.

Question...what should come before the glaze (polish?)...and what comes after? (sealant then wax?)

I like the deep look of Carnuba wax...but can it follow a glaze? What about durability!

Thank you

Yep, polish before, seal after.

I would recommend both RMG and DWG. RMG is great, Danase Wet Glaze is great as well. I order Menzerna Glaze today, going to give that a shot next...

I used RMG with Souveran on our Jag, I was happy with the look it gave. Haven't tried DWG yet though. Durability I think isn't too much to worry about if you are topping it.

Sealant before wax. You also can use Meguiars 3, 5, 7, 81 all pure polishes after a cured LSP. They add essential oils and rich nutrients. Show car owners sometime add a layer of #7 before a show. Some glazes will remove your LSP (RMG). But the use of glazes and polishes are very under utilized.

So, all said and done:

Polish

followed by glaze

followed by sealant

followed by wax.

Tks for the info, and product recomendation.

Think ill finish up my PB stock, then move to:

Menzerna Final polish

RMG

Undecided on the sealant...reccomendations? (Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant ?)

Either P21S , Pinnacle Souveran paste (find it expensive thought), or ill stick with the Natty's.

Comments!

Tks

It sounds like you could also use a polish with more cut to remove your swirls and scratches. I would recommend either Four Star MMC or Opt. OC. Use either of those with a Orange or Yellow cut pad and then follow with your SSR 1 with a polishing pad. After that you can glaze with Danase Wet Glaze, CG's EZ Creme Glaze, or RMG. Follow the glaze with any wax...DWG and CG EZ can both be followed with sealants as well.

You say you're unhappy with the "scratch and swirl" treatment, but you aren't using any products that have significant capability for correction. The FP in your latest list has about the same cut as SSR1, which isn't much. If you really want to correct those defects, rather than hide them with a glaze (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), you will need to step up to SSR2 or 2.5, or Menz Intensive Polish.

That is my thinking.

Being that the car is black...and swirl is always going to be an issue. I am thinking of going the cover up route versus the removal route.

I had a decent finish the first time I did the car in the spring. Was my first go with the PC and therefore might have been too carefull...there was some swirl left over. Think I went with the SSR 1 and an orange pad.

Could certainly move up to SSR 2, or 2.5...but i am pretty sure i will need to go at it at least twice a year with the 2 or 2.5 and an orange pad. Also, I am into quite a few steps:

1 - SSR 2

2 - SSR 1

3 - Polish

4 - Seal

5 - Wax

With glaze I cut out a step, most likely get a better fisish, and same my clearcoke.

Am i thinking straight here....Comments...

The SSR1 is a pretty mild polish/compound and if you're having trouble getting all the swirls and scratches out, you might need to step up a notch or two on the compound end. I personally like DACP and for less agressiveness, the Optimim Compound does a nice job and you can go straight to the polish. Glazes like RMG and VM (I have no experience with DWG, but have heard good things about it) do an excellent job of bringing out a little more depth and shine.

If those are the products of choice, I would leave out the SSR1 and insert a glaze in there after the polish. The results will speak for themselves as the SSR1 isn't really doing anything for you.

No the above is what I am using now...I just added the SSR2

Now I am leaning towards:

Menzerna Intensive polish

RMG (or Danase...if I can find it!)

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

Natty's (24 hours later)

Can RMG be followed witha sealant?
