Glaze colors???

I have a white car and while using SMR on it this morning I was thinking about glaze. I have some #7 that I usually use and some MOTHERS sealer and glaze. The #7 is dark colored and the MOTHERS is a much lighter color, not white but really close to the color of the #9 2.0. I was thinking that since glaze basically fills imperfections with oils and fillers then wouldn't it be better to use a lighter product for light cars and darker for dark cars? We do this with 3M SMR why not for glaze as well. Has anyone else thought about this or have I missed something along the way? Since I have a white car it could make a difference.

I have used both products, but never on a white car. I have used them on Silver cars and never noticed any darkening whatsoever. As far as I know, the only things left behind are the oils, when using a glaze. I have also used 3M SMR quite a bit, and even on a white car, and never noticed any darkening, so I would say that it really doesn't make any difference.

Maybe others will have different experience, but that's what I have found.

I think the only issue with using a dark colored glaze on a white car might be that it could make any chipped or pitted areas on your paint more visible....but that's just a guess. Other than that, you aren't compromising anything.

Have you considered using P21S GEPC instead of a glaze? I've used both the GEPC (white liquid) as well as Meguiar's and couldn't detect much of a difference between them, except for ease of use. The GEPC spread very easily and wiped off with minimal effort, left a slicker surface than did the glaze and I couldn't tell much of a difference in the shine (both were very impressive in the shine department).

The GEPC is called a paint cleanser, but it's extremely mild. In fact, I'd even almost be willing to say that its cleaning properties are only marginally stronger than that of a glaze. It's mild enough to use freqently on your car.

I usually use the #7 and today I tried the Mothers on the top of the car and it removed easier than the #7 and was slightly slicker. That said, the mothers smelled more "chemical" so I switched back to the #7. The color thing was simply a thought. I'll have to try the P21S GEPC.

Now I really like Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze but I felt like the 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze and Swirl Remover for light cars did better on my white Subaru. I really like it.

I don't think #7 would cause a problem since it is for all colors, It is a neutral shade. But don't put a Glaze made for dark cars on a light to medium one, or a white glaze for light colored cars on a dark one.

With the 3M Glaze they have different focuses. The light one emphasizes shine. The dark one emphasizes jetting and a good wet look.
