Glaze before Sealant

Whats the overall consensus on applying a glaze before a sealant? Is it something that is highly recommended or not really necessary? The products that I am using right now are Menzerna IP & FPII with Blackfire Sealant. Should I add Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze or VM to my product collection and use it before the Blackfire? Thanks!

If you're going for looks then I say add a glaze. I've heard/read that putting a sealant over a glaze causes durability concerns. In the winter I skip the glaze but from March until November I glaze away. Durabilty is not an issue with me during those months. I'm in it strictly for the appearance and I think glazing adds to the overall bling.

Rabbi nailed it on the head. A glaze seems to add wetness and depth and fill in minor surface imperfections. I have had dificutly with sealent over glaze due to the oils in the glaze. Just make sure you really remove all excess from the glaze prior to sealent.

Does RMG conatin oils? I know that Menzerna FTG does and i believe that VM does too. Would RMG than be a better choice for a glaze when using Blackfire? Reason why I ask is because Blackfire contains oils, so wouldnt it be bad to add a glaze before it that contains oils? I would think that would make applying Blackfire even more difficult. Does this make any sense?

i have to add to this

adams polishes suggest using their bsg (which has oils) before their butterwax (which is a carnuba, BUT had plenty of polymers and such in it. ive also used upp (sealant) over #80 (has oils). it seemed to bond correctly on both fo thsoe combos, but do u guys think durabilty would have been better without a sealant or if i used a pure carnuba over the glaxe instead?

I would say go for it. I sometimes think that the whole "bonding issue" thing is a bit over dramatized on the detailing boards seeing as how most of us aren't looking to get six months out of anything to begin with.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will try a glaze out on one of my cars and see how it looks. Does anyone have any experience with RMG on a dark color like black? If so how much of an improvement do you think it made if any?

Do you think a person could use Meguairs new car glaze and then put Black fire Diamond Sealant on?

RMG on black works great. I only use it under waxes, not sealants.

Blackfire has a glaze in their collection. It is called Gloss Enhancing Polish. I recently won some and I hope to try it out today if the weather allows.
