Glass roof... dedicated glass coating or ceramic coating?

Hi folks, as per title.. my Jag is soon to be coated in CarPro SiC and I`m trying to decide whether to also use it on the glass roof, or if a dedicated glass coating like Gtechniq G1 would be better?

I have the SiC, whereas I`d need to buy a second bottle of G1 to cover the extra surface area most likely.

Any experience of paintwork coatings on glass?

Also any recommendations for super repellent glass sealants to top a longer life coating with are welcome... I`ve always used H2GO or Gtechniq`s G5.

Thanks guys. Me being me I`m not massively concerned about having to go out and buy another product I`m really looking to understand what would give better performance and durability! It sounds like a dedicated glass coating topped with a glass sealant, rather than a paint ceramic like SiC?

Quick hijack. :) What adjustments if any would you recommend to apply cquartz uk on glass for instance? I have half a bottle to use up. Looks nice on black matte plastic finish so far.
 
When I`m coating the roof of my vehicles, I just carry right on to the sunroof glass with whatever product I`m using. I won`t coat the rubber gaskets and mouse fur around the edges, but the glass gets the same thing as the paint.

Adjustment? I don`t do anything different. I`ll use a surface prep on the glass just like I do the paint and I`ll then apply it to the glass just like the paint. I`ve not coated my side windows, but I do the sunroof glass all the time.

Why not coat the gaskets? What then do you use for them?

No different then coating paint. Coat your wheels with UK.

I`ve shied away from applying an LSP to gaskets and rubber trim long ago after having some carnauba seriously stain the rubber and it was nearly impossible to get off.

With coatings, I`ve seen them stiffen and harden the application swatches and buffing rags after they dry. I can`t imagine that`s a good thing for something like a rubber gasket/seal which needs to stay supple and flexible to do it`s job. If the rubber does remain flexible the coating won`t and I`d imagine it would shatter and flake off.

For external gaskets/seals I`ll use a dedicated trim protectant. On my own personal vehicles I`ll occasionally use gummi pfledge on the interior gaskets and seals to keep them soft, pliable, and prevent squeaking.
