Glass cleaning supplies?

Well I had been using Stoner glass cleaner which I really liked, and recently tried Eimann Fabrik glass cleaner, which is awesome stuff but it makes a smell like your in a meth lab(not that I know what that smells like it and even though I've been detailing my car for 72 hours straight has no bearing on that, and if asked I plead the fifth :o )

To me Stoners is a good everyday/ weekly cleaner, and the Eimann Fabrik is to cut through the nasty stuff! Now to my question, what do you all use as a glass cleaning cloth. I tried my Viking microfiber cloths and they do okay but it seems like the scrubbing power is lacking and it always streaked. I recently bought a black magic glass cleaning cloth that is supposedly Microfiber and has hardly any pile and it worked alright but I've only used it once so the verdict is still out but for 3.00 it looks like it might do the job and its got a cool little stitched pocket for getting in the corners, so I'll let you know! I was considering the Viper glass cloth or the MAgic towel from properautocare. Just wanted to know what you guys liked to use to clean your windows? Thanks

I've got one of the Miracle Glass cleaning towels from CMA. It works well but I can't notice much difference between that and standard MF towel. :nixweiss They seem to be equivalent.

I got a couple of glass cleaning towels from autofiber.com yesterday. They are somewhat unique as far as MF towels can be. the surface is different and is like a fine silk napkin you'd see at a better restaurant. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Also, I was speaking with Nick at Detailer's Paradise yesterday and they got in some specialized glass cleaning towels. You might want to check them out. I have not...yet . :D

Tom those black magic glass cleaning cloths are similar to the silk napkin your talking of, it seems like a nice dinner napkin! I know its Black magic and most of the stuff they sell is crap especially their tire dressing they used to have. But I've checked out their new detailing brushes and tools and they are pretty nice! I just wouldn't use anything else from them! I'll have to check out detail paradise, Thanks , Everybody keep it comin!

true blue, you're saying those glass cleaning clothes (the silk napkin ones) are no good?

:(

Here's the link to Nick's new product.

The best towels I have used for window cleaning are waffle weave Mf towels. They have lots of bite but still slide easily across the glass and no lint. I use the smaller ones that measure 16 in x 24 in. I use these with Stoners Invisible Glass.

tom,

I've actually had Nick's new glass towel for a week but haven't had the chance to use it. I will do up all the car windows tomorrow just for yall and report back :up

No the black magic ones seemed pretty good, I just used them real quick to give the windows a once over cause I saw they were streaked when I left in the morning. So tommorow I'm gonna give them more of a workout and see what they can really do, so the verdict is still out, I'll let everyone know! Thanks for the replies so far!

I anxiously await your appraisals! I am curious about the cloth from Nick...especially at that price.

The Autofiber towels are only $4 so there isn't so much at risk.

WOW:eek: ! Those glass cleaning cloths from detailers paradise are way too much!!! They look just like the ones from autofiber.com and similar to the black magic towel and they are 8 bucks less!

Take a look at the close up view of the DP cloth...it's got a zig-zag pattern. IIRC, Nick said they were made in Ca. Just about all the othter MFs appear to come from China, Taiwan, etc.

Relax, nobody's forcing you to buy anything. It feels nothing like regular mf and Nick isn't trying to make a killing on these. They are expensive to start with. I will go and test them out today with the einszett glass cleaner than I have grown very fond of :up

Besides, everyone who has tried the mftech glass towels say they lint like crazy. These feel like silk hence no lint.

Trust me I don't feel forced, but I'd like to to know the markup on those  :) . I see what you mean about the zig zag pattern, I kinda like that. Those BM ones are smooth. Look at me I'm complainig about paying 13 bucks for a glass towel but I have a 19 dollar drying towel , go figure!

Ok, here is my contribution to autopia as minute as it may seem :D

Before I share my initial findings, let me give you guys a little background. I have never been able to get streak-free AND lint free glass for as long as I can remember. Even before I got the m3 7 months ago, I have tried a lot of glass cleaners and had no luck or been dissatisfied with all of the combinations that I tried. I've used windex, griots glass cleaner with the soft cotton cloths (before mf), clear vue and have presently been using the zymol glass cleaner. Why? I dunno b/c at the time I had a lot of high end zymol stuff. I have tried various mf towels as well. Cheap ones like costco, another low pile *glass* mf I had purchased from god knows where and lastly the cma viper glass cloth which I really don't like and don't think is really made for glass. So as you can see, I've had my fair share and spent $$$ trying different things. Now on to the review.

I've been shopping at detailers paradise for a little while now and thought I'd give the glass cleaner a try since it was only 4 bucks. I wanted to retire all my zymol stuff too so what the hell. First thing I noticed was how strong it was. It cuts through EVERYTHING. I should dilute it 2:1 but I'm lazy and I kinda like the scent, some may not. Being impressed the the cleaner, I asked Nick about this new glass towel and decided to give it a shot. When you first touch it, the towel almost feels as if it were made of silk. I didn't like the slippery texture (feeling it would slip out of hand while wiping) but reserved judgment until I tried it out. I don't like to use my nice towels on dirty windows so I first cleaned the windshield with paper towels which are horrible but whatever. After I sprayed the 1z, I started to wipe and noticed two things immediately. The towel just glides across the glass (no need for pressure like regular mf) and it picked up everything, cleaner included. Pretty impressive. Now to the inside. Same deal. The towel is pretty easy to control and sucks everything up so fast that after the first couple of swipes, the friction of clean glass slows it down. Not bad at all. Went on to clean a few more windows and more spectacular results. With regular mf, you kind of don't know which spots you've hit unless you pay really close attention because of the pile. I know it sounds dumb, but this towel kind of communicates with you if that makes any sense. Anyway, I am really impressed with how effortless it is to clean glass and appears to be of very high quality. The towel doesn't lint and seems like it will last for a long time. Don't judge it from the pics, you have to use it and I am sure you guys will be pleasantly surprised. I will be the first to admit this towel is not cheap, but you get what you pay for and I would rather have one of these than 5 regular towels. You guys really should check out the glass cleaning bundle also and save a few bucks on both the cleaner and cloth. Sorry for typing so damn much, I usually don't go into this much but I am a big supporter of Nicks! Now I will have to test my concours buffing towel! :up

Tom, there is a little surprize in your package. :-)

For you guys who are thrifty, yet curious, check back on April 1. Our sale items will rotate. ;)

From what I understand, a glass cleaning MF should have very little nap and be more of the "hard" poly than the soft.

Call me old school, but I still do a dirty window with newspaper. If it's pretty clean, I'll just wipe it with a MF sans glass cleaner.

As for cleaners, I've done Stoners for a while, then did one bottle of Gunk brand, which is a sorry Stoner's clone, and now I really like the EO 20/20. I don't really like to pay shipping. However, the new O'Reilly's will order anything they can for you sans hassle, so I'll try out whatever 3M has, etc.

After a lot of experimenting in the last 5 years I've finally settled on Stoners Invisible Glass and Ranney's ww mf towels. It's the best combo I've found. No streaks.....I mean NONE.

I also use Poorboys Spray and Wipe on the exterior windows when I do the rest of the truck....which is daily or almost daily. The Spray and Wipe works as well as the Stoners.

I think the secret is the ww mf. It's gotten to where I seldom use regualr mf's anymore. The ww's are superior....imo. :D

I am there as well - no lint and the Baltimore Sun gets a good use

I hadn't thought of a WW for glass cleaning operations. I've been using Stoner's and Ranney's basic MF towel...no complaints with that combo.

My standard procedure for a long time has been the orange Magic Glass MF towel (from CMA) with Sprayway Glass cleaner. that is very successful as well.

The Stoner's is a good product...just picked up a can recently at WallyWorld.

Yup, I completely agree. The WW's seem to do everything terry MF's do, except better. No lint & no grab. Makes cleaning tight spots like the inside rear window much easier. It also works great for QDing and buffing....not to mention, drying.
