Glass Cleaner

Nice and Cool
Any ideas what I could use to remove what appears to be a light haze from a Vette front windshield. I've tried claying, invisible glass, Isopropyl, vinegar. Maybe its supposed to be there???:rockon

What haze are you talking about? is it on the glass or inside the glass

Based on what you have tried polish would be my next choice...what you have done so far tells me that it might be something inside the glass

Its on the outside. I figured the claybar would take care of it. Will try polish and report. thnx

How old is the Vette? I've seen some older cars that get a fogging near the edges of the glass. It seems to be there to stay. (I think it may be a reaction with the plastic laminate aging.) If the car's pretty new, you might try some glass polish. You can get some online at various e-tailers, or you might have some luck at a hardware store and get a product called "NoStreek."
You might also try a paint polish such as Poorboy's Pro Polish.

Its an '02, and yes it does seem to be around the edges. I'm going to try the polish this weekend and see. thnx

If its around the edges then I'm betting on it being inside the glass...more like a fogging that I do believe is air getting to the glue that is holding the two plates of glass together..I've seen this quite a lot with older cars...good luck with the polish

Ray, where on the windshield. I know you said by the edges, but is it in the black area or is it in the clear section.
If it is the black area, then it maybe that the lamination in that area may be having a UV reaction.

Do you have any pictures?

Jay

you and I are thinking the same thing...I have seen allot of older windshields that have haze at the edges..Based on what this guy has done so far it would have corrected something that is on the surface...even a razor blade would take anything on the surface...hope this guy posts back

Hey guys..I haven't forgot about the post. I will report back on Monday after I try the Polish..I was able to get my hands on some DG Glass Polsh. Jay: It appears mostly on the edges in the black area, but I see some towards the center and offset from there a little.

The haze could also be brought on by a chemicals if anything was left on the shield too long.
Just like water spots can etch glass so can other things.

But pictures would definately help what (if anything) can be done

Sorry guys..didn't get to it this weekend (father-in-law had a heart attack). J: I'lll try to get some photos for you.

Finally.....Beemerboy: You were right. After polishing the outside of the glass I noticed it was still there. I eventually polished the inside and took care of the problem. Apparently someone told the owner to clean the glass with Coca-Cola and he never got it completely off. Would have been nice to have known a week ago. Thanks a million for your help.
