Giving zaino a chance...

There has been a lot of good info posted up by everyone. It sounds like you just need to try it and see for yourself.



My question and not to jack the thread but what is the difference between Z2 and Z5. I'm going to take the plunge and try Zaino, I always have but never did it. I guess I'm bored with the sealants and waxes I have now. Don't get me wrong I love Wolfgang, Pinnacle, Natty's, and P21S.
 
Does Z-AIO work as good or better than KAIO with other companies' sealants? (ie. Wolfgang DGPS 3.0, EX-P, 4*UPP, etc.)

Z5 is meant for darker colors because it has some minor filling abilities.

I top ZAIO with Optiseal with no problems.





The one thing that I'm not fond about the Zaino system is the amount of layers and ZFX (or whatever that additive is called.) A layer of Z2 > Z6 > Z5 > Z6 etc. Not saying that process is necessary, as It can be as simple as ZAIO > ZCS if you wnat, but...

I've found Werkstat's Prime to be the best sealant base. Seems to wipe off the cleanest.

I can't really remember a time when I've applied more than 3 coats at once or in a short period. Around here, 3 coats seems to last 6+ months with Z7/Z6 maintenance. With something like Z8 or ZCS as routine maintenance, it's possible to be greatly extended..

It also has a darkening effect, which I haven't seen with Z2.

And it works well with Z2/Z5. Actually, it looks great with just Prime/Z8. I just don't know how durable that is.

I've gotten 6+ months from one layer.
 
ZAIO and Z8 are the 2 must haves. Z5 pro looks nice on dark colors. Z2pro has a highly reflective look-great on lighter metallics.
 
I have recently got the Zaino line and have been impressed, but not blown away. It does have a distinctive glassy look that looks great on many colours but didnt really deliver on the car I bought it for - dark silver colour :(



You do use a tiny amount of product, so despite a slightly higher initial cost, its still good value. Z-2 lasts well, looks pretty good and beads/sheets very well for a sealant IMHO. Z-AIO is very nice by machine, but takes longer to cure here than many, like Prime etc, which can make it a little bit of a pain... Check out my Veyron detail where we used Z-AIO & Z-2 x2 ;)



Z-6 is a decent QD but Z-8 is a product I will always use :D Adds a great boost in looks over other products, bith waxes and sealants and is a joy to use, if you're not in full sun.



I dont rate Z-CS as highy as the other WOWA sealants and it destroys the slickness of the other Zaino products IMHO. Quick and easy but not great. I havent had any issues with bird bomb marking etc despite having some sit on the car for a few days once while I was away. Not a significant water spotting issue either, relative to other products.



I tried the DG line and while I see how people think it looks the same, I just didnt rate it nearly as highly as Zaino. The paint very quickly felt dry with no slickness (despite always washing with 901) and it didnt release dirt as easily as Z-2. I wont be going back to these....



Also love Zymol stuff and currently have Vintage and Royale on panels of one of my cars, and have used Glasur and Titanium a lot in the past. Its superb but not even close to being worth it :lol: I also have a sample pot of Destiny that I have yet to try and will be saving this for spring :D
 
I gave Zaino a try. Z2 & Z5 ... But I like a good carnuba finish as Zymol Vintage or Pin. Souveran. If I had to pick a sealant It would be the sleeper Meg. #21. JMHO ..... I get a lot of compliments on my 2005 RED RX8 ..... So my PO85RD, Red Moose Glaze, & Vintage combo, I must be doing something right. But I do agree Zaino makes some fine products. Just not my style.
 
The only thing worse than Zaino zealots are anti-Zaino zealots.



Sounds like your only doing your own cars, so if you enjoy the process of reapplying waxes or less durable sealants about every 2 months then you might want to use something besides Zaino.



The Zaino will last and you'll get the itch to do something when you get bored of just washing, Z-6 detail spray wipe down and Z-8 about once a month.



Twice a year is all you need. I do my own cars at the end of November and begininning of April. It has no problem making it through the 4 nasty winter months and then easily makes it through the 8 months of good weather.
 
DJ - how's that rotary doing? I wish we could have talked longer the other day. You know a lot about the sealants we all hear about and I was wondering if you would rate the top ones - like Zaino, AJ, etc.

Gosh, i think you people understand me well. I just do my own cars and i can't conceive not waxing the car every 4-5 weeks. I actually like it ( a lot) but who knows, maybe i get in love with the polymers and start thinking on a new hobby...



Just another question, which product would you prefer btw ZAIO and ZPC? Both my cars are black and i consider they are in good shape. nevertheless they both have swirls and tiny scratches...
 
If I had to only order one Zaino product it would be ZAIO, but it doesn't do much for swirls. Have you used a polishing machine before?
 
I love the looks and ease of use of Zaino's products! Z8 is my favorite detailing product of any kind.



I haven't gotten the killer durability that everyone brags about,but that's my only complaint. I've never seen the "plastic" look that has been discussed on here either.
 
Zaino has a rather unique look; it's one of the few products I can sometimes spot on unfamiliar vehicles ("is that Zaino? Ah, thought so...nice car").
