Give me a plan!

OK... here is the deal. I have a 2005 Colorado Crew Cab that is victory red (GM bright red, non-metallic... same color they have been using on vettes, Camaros, etc for the past 10 years). I bought the truck in May, but it sat on the dealer lot for 9 months. It has some micro-marring / swirls from lousy dealer prep / wash jobs. I gave it a coat of NXT when I got it home just to protect it, but I want to do a full detail before winter. The hood and roof seem to have rail dust, so I figure I should clay. Here is what I have to work with:

PC 7336 & DAS 5" plate

Sonus DAS Orange, Green, Blue pads (7")

Propel Yellow and Green pads (7")

SSR2.5

SSR1

Meguair's NXT liquid

Meguiar's #26 liquid

Duragloss 111 & 601 polish prep

Mothers CG clay bar

My goal is maximum results with minimal paint removal. The truck sits outside all the time, so durability is important. I generally use Duragloss wash, and wash 2-3 times per month. Let's hear what the autopia experts recommend! :)

I realize it is tough to be TOO specific without seeing it, but hopefully my description of vehicle condition is enough to give you guys an idea of what I am dealing with.

here's what I'd do:

If you say you have "micro-marring", it shouldn't take much more than SSR1 with a green or blue pad to get rid of it. If that won't do it, then use SSR2.5 with a blue or green pad. Use the least aggressive method first to see if it leaves a finish that you're happy with.

Mothers CG clay bar

Polish (start with SSR1, move to 2.5 if necessary)

NXT

#26

If you're really concerned with durability, get some Klasse SG to replace the NXT, or Collinite wax to replace the #26.

John, I'm going to have to agree with White95Max. Start with the grren pad and SSR1 first to see how that handles the marring. If it doesn't do it, move up to 2.5/green.

Good luck and I want pics ;)
