I recently bought a Gilmour Multi-ratio foam gun, have read the manual, but still lost in a web settings and brass knobs.

The gun foams adequately, but is incomparable with the video examples posted.

Soap: Meg's GC

I've tried diluting 3:1, 2:1, 1:1 and even straight soap, but the amount of foam remains about the same.

Will post photos of the foam gun shortly.

Would appreciate your feedback.

HUM. i've been using the gilmour gun for about a year now. i get great foam on the last three highest settings using eagle 1 soap 4:1 (4 parts soap/1 part water). foams like crazy.

The foam gun requires the liquid inside to bear near water consistency! I think a lot of folks use something like a 3:1 ratio with their foam gun. But remember, different soaps foam better and hardness of your water source will play the biggest role of all!

ALSO. Do *NOT* compare foam gun videos from folks using a foam lance on a pressure washer. They are not the same.

P.S A lot of folks are using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss or Zaino Z7 in some of those videos. Perhaps whatever you are using simply isn't a great foamer?

I keep thinking of more things.

Make sure you are using the appropriate setting on the gun itself too. If you are using 3:1 (water to soap)mixture make sure you are using a 3:1 or 4:1 (or higher) setting on the foamer, that way each gallon of water you are using at least an ounce of the soap and 3 ounces of the water. If you set the foam gun to 3:1 and your ratio is 3:1 it would stand to reason you'd put out an ounce of soap per gallon and drain your mixture within 8 gallons of water put through it.

+1 i have yet to find a OTC (or just about any for that matter) car wash foam more...

ok, after looking at the pictures again, I realized that I'm missing the multi-ratio brass stem:

(pictured right)

Instead of the multi-ratio stem, I have a black plastic lever which would adjust to siphon or water only. Thus, I am unable to adjust any settings; Foam would either be on or off.

Here's the link I ordered from on Amazon.com

No other items were included in my box. Had I ordered the wrong part?

According to the Gilmour the gun you have (model 75QGF4) is set to 4 ounces per gallon:

Foamaster®

It also mentions the 4 oz per gallon on Amazon in the Technical Details section.

4 ounces per gallon is the middle setting on the gun with the multi-ratio stem like many of us have: 1, 2, 4, 6, or 12 oz. per gallon. You'll just have to adjust your car wash dilution ratio to get the foam you want. If the GC wash isn't doing that then you need to try another car wash, perhaps one of the two that were mentioned by other posters.

I think if you want the multi-ratio brass gun it is model 75QGFMR, which Amazon also sells:

We got pretty frustrated with the way "other" soaps were foaming, which is why we had our own formula made for DP! You WILL get results like you see in the pictures (I was the one using it in the pics :D).

DP Xtreme Foam Formula High Yield Foaming Auto Shampoo- Foamaster gun car wash

I have this gun and have had less than stellar results. My problem is not the ratio, and it is not the Gun itself. My problem is less than stellar Water pressure!!!! I used the gun at my mother in laws house and it worked great! My house it foams but nothing special. I have tried boosting my water pressure at my house but didn't make much gain there. Good luck but this may be your problem!

you don't have to "up" the pressure for the whole house, just at you nozzle. try a reducer/reduction fitting at youe hose bib or hose end where you attach the gun. :xyxthumbs
