well I don't know if it better... it's different and the one I use

this one it is made of heavy plastic

and I chose the plastic because some people have had a minor issure with the brass corroding

also I liked the idea of the clearly marked dial to get different mix ratios

(on the brass one you need to count holes and slide the valve)

both are good just different

little info here:http://autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/104349-difference-between-these-two-gilmour-foamasters-2.html

Thanks for the link! I had a $25 GC for Amazon so I got the foam gun for $15 :) However "Availability: Usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available." Hopefully it'll ship sooner though, Amazon usually has fairly decent shipping times.

75QGF - Quart Foam Gun w/standard 4 oz. per gal. single ratio dial

75HGF - Half Gallon Foam Gun w/standard 4 oz. per gal. single ratio dial

75QGFMR - Quart Foam Gun w/Multi-Ratio Stem and Deflector

75HGFMR - Half Gallon Foam Gun w/Multi-Ratio Stem and Deflector

So based on this, Multi-Ratio is probably preferred correct?

What would be better buy for someone who washes a single car (EG: I only wash my car weekly), the half gallon or the quart foam gun?

Many thanks Big O for the heads up on this one! I've been wanting to get one for some time now but always thought paying the going price ($60.00+ ) was a bit too much. This certainly brings the cost factor down to a much more affordable range. Think I'll be going the plastic route vs brass.

Your welcome! This forum has helped me in MANY ways and the information is invaluable. Glad to be able to give something back :xyxthumbs.

I have a question about how to use the foam gun. I put about 2-3oz. of Duragloss 901 in the hopper and fill it up with water. Then I rinse the car off with water and foam the entire car down on setting "E" (the highest setting.) The problem is, even with a cold car in the shade the soap starts to dry before I have a chance to go over everything with the grout sponge. Should I not be worried about this or do I need to do something differently? It takes me about 10 minutes to go over the entire car with the grout sponge.

How to Detailing Video - Foam Gun

p.s. you can also push the pin inwards to use just water, and then back to continue with foam...

I've tried that method but it doesn't seem to help with the soap drying since it still takes me about 5-10 minutes to do the whole car. Should I keep spraying the whole car down with foam as I work my way around?

This is what I do using the two bucket method:

Spray entire car w/ foam/sudsy solution and let dwell until sides start drying

Rinse w/ fire mans nozzle at highest pressure

Reapply solution to hood, top and trunk

Use wash media on these areas

Rinse again

Spray solution paying attention to the top 2/3 of one side of vehicle

Use wash media on top 2/3

Rinse again

Proceed to other side spraying top 2/3 and use wash media

Rinse again

Use same process on the back of car and start washing bottom 1/3

Rinse again

Do bottom 1/3 on each side rinsing as you go

Finish up w/ front end

Using a shut off valve and quick connects this process goes fairly quick for me.

Ymmv, yada, yadda.
