I'm sure this has been covered before but I did a quick search and didn't see anything right off the bat.

What's the best way anyone has found to get rid of the waterspots on windows? I've tried vinegar, and polish, and the Rainex windows polish....and haven't had much success...

anyone? Or do I need to just try these same things again only more aggressive??

I haven't had a chance to get to mine yet, but a company called One Grand makes a Water Spot Remover. It contains pumice and is able to remove the spots, as well as scratches and can be applied by hand or machine. I can remember which online supplier carried it, but i have seen it around. Hope this helps

I use something called "Ducky" on my vehicle's windshield, boat, and pwc.

But, I think it is just a diluted mixture of vinegar, so you may not want to go that route again.

How about "Bar Keepers Friend" and a sponge? I know a guy who uses it, but I have never tried it, so it may scratch.

I would use an acid based wheel cleaner and a towel. Be VERY careful with it, but it will work.

Wear gloves, keep away from paint, etc, etc.

It has been said that the steel wool puts microscratches in the glass.

I used #0000 Steel Wool and Windex when I was cleaning my badly water spotted 98 GTI. It worked fine, and I saw no ill effects from it.

If it does micro scratch the window, you sure as heck can't see it.

I have used Bar Keeper's friend, wheel acid, steel wool, rubbing compound, spot x, vinegar, abc, mag polish, rotary, pc, hand, wool and foam pads. Sometimes comes off, most of the time doesnt. My test vehicles was a wholesale dealer account, that bought up north, and sold down south. Eventually, I quit trying different things, and told the dealer I couldnt help the spots, unless he wanted me to buff the fool out of it, but would distort glass. I think the supplier is Top of the line, but are sold out at the moment.

Crystal Clear 550 - Glass Clearing Agent diluted 50/50 with water, but do not use it on the windshield.

I have water spots on all the windows but you can't see them only when drying the windows after car wash.

The big problem I have is with the front windshield, when driving in rain after wiping you can see the spots (i.e.crooked lines going up and down throughout windshield) for about a second then they disappear until next wipe, it really annoys me. you can't see them when not raining. I tried OTC glass products like armor all and invisible glass, no success.

Today I used windex w/ammonia I don't think it worked, I will give vinegar a shot, zaino glass polish, then dawn

anyone have the same problem w/windshield?

If these spots are something that you see only when the windshield is dried then it may not be "waterspots." Try claying your windshield. It will get the grit off and your glass will be very smooth. I've used #0000 steel wool and Autoglym Glass Polish on side windows to remove waterspots and it worked wonderfully. No noticeable scratches or marring, if there are, they are MICROSCOPIC. Once you've got all the spots remove seal and protect the glass with Klasse AIO.

We use a scratch polishing compound and 6000RPM polisher designed for glass to remove acid rain and mineral deposits from glass. Makes a mess but works. But then again we are in the glass business. No distortion either.

CMA (Classic Motoring Accessories) has a glass polishing kit that comes with a 3.875 inch Velcro backing plate with a 5/8 thread for high speed polishers (Makita 9227), 5/8 to D.A. Adapter. (Allows backing plate to be used on dual action polishers (Porter Cable 7424). , 1 - 11 oz. Autoglym Auto Glass Polish and 3 - Four inch, Velcro backed, glass polishing discs. The kit is 39.95 and is money well spent. I own one and it works.

I use PP when needed, it is awesome. It shocked me when I used it on my Motorcycle windscreen, it was never that clear
