getting ready for the weekend Driving Event!

$250 is about the same what BMWCCA chapters charge for their 2 day driving schools, not bad indeed.

So how long tires and brakes last on this car? Can you get 15K miles out of the set of tires if you don't take it to track?

How often do you change oil? I bet all air cooled Porsches are hard on oil.

I can easily get that out of the tires. In fact, with proper air pressure and smooth driving I can get that out of the tires and still do at least half a dozen DE's a year. Luckily for me my commute to work is about 2 miles so I hardly put any real miles on the car a year. My tires last a couple years.

I change the oil and filters annually.

Depending on the tracks I run pads should last the whole season and more. I expect almost two seasons on these new pads. But certain tracks like Road America (which I haven't done) are supposed to kill pads fast. I flush the brake fluid twice annually with Super Blue. (because of the tracking you don't want to mess with this.)

Brad,

Wow you can 15k+ out of your rears?! What alignment settings are you using? I can't get close to that kind of mileage out the tires. I go through 2 sets of rears for every front set.

Here's a pic of my last alignment after I installed my PSS-9 Billstein suspension. Of course I don't know what the alignment was before the suspension but the wear has been great since.

Hope you can kind of make it out. It's the best I could do.

Speaking of driving events, has anyone ever done the Richard Petty Driving Experience? They offer it at Daytona and I am just drueling at the chance to drive the high banks in a stock car :)

Yes. It's pretty fun! You get to go in some detuned stockers. Do it!:xyxthumbs

PS: Don't turn right!
