Getting New Business

What would make you say something like this chubs. This was totally inappropriate :sarge

I am ashamed of you. Go crawl back under your rock chubs ;)

Thanks Flash.

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't want to post it because, I thought maybe, I was reading something into it that was not intended.

I don't know.

I went into my service manager, n I asked him what do I need to detail some cars for him. He told me I needed a business license, which I don't have. But then he asked me to detail his truck, cuz our dealer detailer suck ass. N I asked him if they can hire me to do details on my days off, basically working for them on a hourly rate, which I don't mind. so his in the talks with sales n see if they can make it happen. SO to OP, if you wanna detail, I say you'll need a license to do so.

O ook Im sorry, k then for me I kind of generate a lot of interest b/w co-workers n friends. I start from there if I was you.

NP. I have been working on friends and former co-workers cars. That has led to some referrals for me. You are right, that is a good place to start.

I have started dropping off my cards at local Diners, and have been going to body shops. This seems to have generated some interest, and hopefully will get me some new customers.

Thanks.

Barry..... Congratulations on starting your new business! (Time to be optimistic.)

I started by printing some business cards at vistaprint dot com. They're extremely cheap and you can customize them to your own design.

I go to car shows and drop my cards in the vehicles of potential clients. There are car shows here in KC on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. (Yeah, we're car guys.:out:)

I also talk to the owners and convince them that I can remove the swirls from their cars and make the paint look like new!

It has worked well for me so far (and it keeps the mini-vans to a minimum!)

Well, great minds think a like Bill. I had business cards printed by VistaPrint. During the summer, there is a local car show around the corner from me every couple of weeks in a shopping center parking lot. They haven't started yet, but as soon as they do, I will be sure to get my but over there to do as you suggested.

Thanks!

I use Vistaprint as well, crazy.

Similar to Bill, when I go to car shows and meets I always start off just getting to know the owner, learning a bit about the car and what the owner likes and doesn't like about it. If they sound like they could be interested in having their ride detailed I give them my card and tell them to call me, it helps maintain the flow of interesting cars.

Check out the cruise-ins in your area. Ask the orgaizer(s) if you can attend and demo detailing. All you need is an outside plug-in to run your buffer, a couple of sawhorses and an old hood to demo on. Hand out cards; schedule appts.

Or...contact the local golf courses and ask if they need their golf carts detailed (mostly water spots and scrapes; scuffs).

Jim
