Chris, I BELIEVE the lint I've got is a result of washing and or drying. But I could be very wrong. Im not sure how to tell the difference between lint given off naturally by some MF's and lint that comes as a result of my washing or drying techniques. I believe it may be a little of both.
Also the towels that I've got are the Zuma MF polishing towels from Excel Detail. I've also got a few of your standard towels as well from Eshine but I think the lint Im getting from those is a result of screwing up the other towels and contaminating those ones. I've washed them together in the same batch now, which probably didn't help me
What would everyone recommend for MF towels specifically for removing polish residue? I don't mind spending on quality towels. I see the Cobra towels, but then see a thread in here with problems with them linting as well. I don't need glass MF's or Drying towels, Im just looking for a nice plush MF's for buffing polish residue, as well as for final buffing off of wax / sealents etc.
It seems to be the consent that my current towels are toast, and will be relished to interior duty.
Any microfiber will pick up lint if exposed to it. After that they cling on for dear life and it is very hard to remove! Some new towels lint when new, basically small fibers break off and drive you crazy, team that up with a buffing action (Static) and you have one frustrated detailer. I personally wash my microfiber by hand in a bucket, if I don’t have patience for that I run my washing machine one cycle empty to clean out any residue from the previous clothing load. Keep in mind when it comes to Microfiber there is not a huge variance. There is a reason so many towels look and feel the same. When we picked our new towels last year we had almost a dozen companies send their samples, many can not be told apart from each other, however there were different grades. Each company has cheesy towels and also the premium towels. To make a long story short, don't run out and buy a different brand when you are not 100% sure if it was your washing/drying or the towels! It would be a real kick in the jewels if you did the same thing twice!
