Getting back into the detail game, but need advice

I've been out of the detail game for quite a bit now, but want to get back into it as my car ('02 Pontiac Firehawk - Sunset Orange Metallic) needs a little TLC. My current, yet most likely expired arsenal of products, include mostly zaino stuffl; I'm pretty sure I've had the stuff for over 4 years, so my guess is that it's no good anymore. I don't have a ROB, but am somewhat thinking of investing in one; we'll see how much money i have leftover since I need to completely reinvest in car care products. I've been doing quite a bit of research lately here and other sites and have come up with the following (for use without a ROB):

Wash: Optimum Wash or DG 901

Clay: I already have a few clay bars from Zaino and Meguiars

Prep: DG 501

QD: FK1 #425

Tire Dressing: Already have Armor All Extreme Tire Shine

Towels: A couple of microfiber waffle weave towels and assortment of microfiber towels from exceldetail

Wax/LSP: ??????????????

Does anyone have any experience with Meguiars #81? Anything else you'd recommend?

Since I used the whole Zaino system, I'm not really familiar with waxes and LSP's. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this area.

Thanks!

I'm new here too, but this is my recommendation based on my own research:

LSP: Optimum Opti-Seal (polymer sealant) with Collinite 845 on top (optional wax)

I'm still waiting for my order from Autogeek :)

After doing a little more research, I'm starting to understand this a little better. I'm thinking of going with Wolfgang Deep Gloss sealant topped with Pinnacle Souveran liquid wax. Any thoughts?

Your Zaino products should still be functional. On MOL, Joe of Superior Shine applied a product from the 1960's and it performed as well as the day it was purchased.

Hmm, really? I remember reading awhile back that they have a fairly short shelf life. Nonetheless, i dont have all that much left. Perhaps I'll use it up on my POS DD. I'm interested in trying new stuff anyways.

From the Zaino webpage-

When stored at average room temperature between 65° and 75° degrees, shelf life is as follows:

Z-PC 3+ years

Z-AIO 3+ years

Z-CS 5+ years

Z-1 For optimum results, use before 3 years.

Z-2 For optimum results, use before 3 years.

Z-3 For optimum results, use before 3 years.

Z-5 For optimum results, use before 3 years.

Z-6 5+ years

Z-7 5+ years

Z-8 5+ years

Z-9 5+ years

Z-10 For optimum results, use before 2 years.

Z-12 For optimum results, use before 2 years.

Z-14 For optimum results, use before 2 years.

Z-16 3 to 5 years

Z-18 5 years +

ZFX For optimum results, keep tightly capped, avoiding moisture. Use before 24 months

Ah, thanks. I'm pretty sure I've seen that list. The problem is everything has been kept in my garage, so everything has experienced extreme temperatures. Like I said previously though, I think I'm going to use it on my DD to see how it works; it definitely could you some TLC.

Note that a manufacturer is gonna err on the side of caution when it comes to such stuff. I haven't used Zaino, but my KSG is at least 8 years old and it works fine (and a lot of my other products are a lot older than that).
