Gauging interest in a detailing meet - NNJ

Is anyone interested in having a detailing meet? We would bring our detailing products and sample some from each other. It would also help newbies like me pick the brains of some of the more experienced members.

I live near Morristown NJ.

Newbies like you? You've been a member for 4 years!! I'm interested, what kind of meeting place did you have in mind...cuz that's always the problem.

Still a newbie - only 2 posts. I joined several years ago to download the autopia ebook and lurked around the website. I've not had many occassions to detail my cars in the past but now I'm getting more into detailing.

Depending upon the numbers interested, there are some local car parks which may make good venues. Since we wouldn't have a hose pipe we would need to use some mobile detailing products e.g. a sprayer, ONR etc.

I've never organized or participated in such a meet so forgive me if I'm talking pie in the sky. However, if people are interested I'm willing to explore the possibilities.

I dunno...gotta be careful with that public assembly stuff, need permission from the property owner, maybe some sort of local permit. Unless we can find someone with a really big driveway, or someone knows someone that has a business with a big parking lot...then we have to worry about bathroom access, etc. If we want to do any machine polishing then we need access to outlets or generators...and that's when it gets a little hairy when we're in the corner of the supermarket parking lot with pails of water, generators, etc....

I'd love to do this...I suggest somebody ask a car dealership if we can host the event there. The last detailing meet I went to was at a car dealership that kindly let us use their power and hose for two days! Of course that was sponsored by Poorboy's, but, why not give it a try?

What's in it for the dealership? That Pb's event--Steve was a friend of the guy.

EDIT: I have tried to interest Mark at PAL Automotive (detailing supply shop) in letting us hang out behind his place, figuring getting a bunch of guys together talking about detailing has got to result in some sales, but he doesn't seem interested.

Yeah, not sure how you would set up a get together but for what it's worth, i am interested in attending a detailing meet. :xyxthumbs I have a bunch of supplies that i would share.

Given all the constraints looks like this may need hosting on business premises.

I'm attending the Meguiars Roadshow in Jamesburg this Saturday and will enquire if any of the participants there would be willing to host.

However, I'm up for a product sample/exchange meet and some general chit chat.

i would attend depending on date, i have a trip to korea in early august. Also might have to possible spots but need to ask before i say anything else.

I will talk to mark at PAL, i think I can convince him to let us hang out in the back, and besides all those autopians in one place, someone is gonna be buying something for sure.

Well...he's gotta let us use his water/electric/bathroom and maybe demo some products (foam gun is always suggested). It's gotta increase his Saturday morning foot traffic by about 10 times, but maybe he's worried people will walk off with stuff if he's not watching us. Since he's only there a half day on Sat., make sure he knows we'll let him lock up at the normal time.

If it is held on a day i could attend, i would definitly purchase products. I am currently seeking wheels brushes, mf towels, and other products that show value. Not sure what he sells at his shop, but if its top line products than i am extremely interested.

I am located down in Monmouth County... I would be interested if we get a date and location... I'm always down for trying new products and leraning some new tips
