Gathering 8 f-body car show pics

Detailing Rottweiler
Hello all!

Despite the on and off rain showers and $2.00+ per gallon gas prices Gathering 8 (G8) www.fbodygathering.com wound up being a great success! My guesstimate is that well over 200 f-bodies of every generation were in attendance. I was set up and working all 3 days of the event and detailed a total of 7 cars (6 camaro's and 1 trans am...5 of which were red!!). 6 were my basic wash and wax packages while one 97 Camaro SS received a 3 stage paint detail. My WS6 won its class in the car show for the forth straight year (yeeehaaaa!!!) and a 2000 Z28 that I detailed also won its class. I got to see some just flat out awesome f-bod's and meet some very cool people. I even got to meet fellow Autopian bretfraz and talk detailing for a little bit. :xyxthumbs If you have an f-car and can keep Memorial Day weekend open on your schedule for 2005 I would highly suggest trying to attend. The event involves absolutely NO racing but is a very relaxed atmosphere with a car show and non-stop partying in the parking lot. Unfortunately I did not have time to walk the lot and take pictures but here is a link to another participant that did (he also has a MUCH better digital camera than I do!):

I've attached a few pics of what my weekend looked like :D

Enjoy!

2000 Z28 that received a wash and NXT. This is the car that I detailed that won its class. That made me even more happy than winning my own class!:D

2002 V6 Camaro that received a wash and Meg's #66

2001 GMMG Blackbird peeking out behind it that is waiting to receive a wash and Meg's #20

That is quite a feat to win in that event...... :xyxthumbs lots of gorgeous Fbods.......The more I see Sunset Orange Metallic the more I like it. I hope you made some money at the event......sounds like you worked hard. It's tough enough getting your own car ready for a show like that. Congrats on the win:up

It was great to meet you, Michael. As always, your T/A looked awesome! Congrats on the award!!

That Baldwin/Motion 454 Camaro was the baddest car in the show, IMO. A killer car. You did a great job on it.

The G8 show was one of the best I've been to since living in Atlanta. I enjoyed it. Definitely check it out next year if you get a chance.

THANK YOU all for the kind words! I was VERY happy that the ole WS6 brought home the gold again...makes all the hard work worth it. She wasn't the fastest f -bod there by a long shot nor was she the most modified but I'll be damned if she wasn't one of the cleanest...Autopian style!!

I made enough money from the three days to cover my hotel room, food and most importantly beer costs for the weekend and still managed to clear a profit. Even if I had just broke even I would have been happy. I'm a detailer but I'm also an auto enthusiast so detailing cars like these is fun for me!

andriver they really are great cars. It's a shame GM dropped the ball with them but then again the head honcho's at GM have been making some very, very poor marketing decisions in the past few years.

Terry that sunset orange metallic is a VERY cool color. They had a C6 in that color in the GM display area. I have to admit though that given a choice...I'd take the Hugger Orange like your f-bod. :up

Redcar Guy I was thinking of you while I was detailing that 97 SS. That bad boy only had a touch over 20K on the odometer...and that was including the drive to the show from Kentucky!! It's an automatic t-top car with a cloth interior...I think that combo might be somewhat rare.

6']['9 I charge $75 for my basic wash and wax package which includes some interior work. The 3 stage cost $150.

bretfraz it was good to meet you too and THANKS for the compliments! Sorry I did not have more time to sit and shoot the poop about detailing. Maybe we can meet up for a cup of coffee or something one day and talk some. Just PM me if you have any interest.

Why do they produce such odd numbers?

Ramolap...it all depends on what dealers and individuals (through dealers) order from the factory. If everyone ordered red hardtop six speeds...that's all their would be.
