Gas Station Wax Sales

Anyone notice sales people promoting an aerosol wax at your local gas stations lately?

As you are filling up your car they approach you to do a demo. They spray a section of your car, wipe it down, and ask you what you think, etc.

Pretty bogus operation. I mean they just spray on wipe off totally disregarding the fact that some cars are dirty/ unwashed /etc.

One person thought about approaching me, took a look at my paint, knew better and just walked away.

I tried to attach a few pics. It's ok for having 65k and I usually don't detail the trim as it keeps painter's tape from sticking and my fiancee doesn't like slick tires.

Not happening around here that I've seen, but if anyone walked up and sprayed something on my paint they'd be eating thru a straw for the rest of their lives. :bat

"so they just spray crap on your car without asking you?"

- Never seen them do that. You never know if one salesperson is more aggressive than the other, but if they did, yeah, I'd throw their bottle right over the fence!!!

One thing I didn't think about is the cloths they use...time after time, just accumulating dirt sand grime to ruin your paint with.

Look out!

Yeah, that happened to me last summer at a gas station/conveniece store. He asked if he could show me a new spray wax on my hood and I told him he better not even think of touching my hood with the wax or his nasty towel. He said something like "but you won't believe the results" and I said only an idiot would even think of trying to wax the hood of a dirty black car without even washing it and he better not touch my car. By then, both my sons were also out of the car, he looked at the three of us and decided to go pester someone else.

It's been a long time since anyone has approached me for anything at a gas station. Back when I was a kid and we lived in a poorer part of town, there was always the bum that would come up and clean your windows with diluted windex and newspaper without your permission, hoping that you give him some money for being "helpful".

But it's been many years since anything like that has happened. I also live and gas up in a more affluent area now so I'm sure that has a lot to do why I don't see this kind of thing happening anymore.

i've encountered a few times when bums, moochers, etc.. wanted to clean my windows but knew better than to ask me since my ride looked clean...
