Gas Stain

I just took a look at a truck I am detailing tomorrow (02 Escalade) and was informed by the owner that he has a gas stain on the plastic skirt. It is a white truck and the stain is about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. It is only noticeable from about one ft. away. I have no idea what to try on this, I looked in the ebook and saw nothing. Any thoughts.

This is a good question. I worked on a friend's Civic once with similar stains on the rubber trim on the side. I can't remember exactly what I tried on it, but I think I probably tried Megs #39 vinyl cleaner and that didn't work. I think the problem was the gas had actually damaged the rubber. I managed to reduce them somewhat by using TW polishing compound on them (at least it's useful for that :p) and dressing them, but you could still see them faintly.

All in all, an imperfect solution IMO. Any other ideas? :nixweiss

I think you are right that it is permanently damaged, I promised the owner I would try my best on it, but no guarantees. My only problem is that I don't even know what to try.
