gas shortage? any truth to it?

There is no cure!
this goes out to many of those who live in s. florida. girlfriends grandmother mentioned to me that i should gas up early because theres gonna be 3 daays without gas. so instead of just listenign i tried looking for proof, but found nothing. any truth to it?

i mean i dont doubt that gas might become significantly more expensive due to the refineries being shut down because of katrina but "there not being any gas available for 3 days"????

anyone?

Alot of stories going around right now. I heard Jeb Bush on the radio say that there is no emminent shortage for the state of Florida.

Gas up anyway. :beer_smil

His brother said that he can't do anything about the price of gas, that sounds funny comming from the person in charge of the most powerful country in the world. He could take Iraq's oil for all of the money we are waisting over there. He could stop sending aid to all of these countries and not tax the gas, oh but wait he can't get re-elected so what does he have to lose. He is one pres. I wouldn't mind seeing lost at sea.

thats probally the last case senario but who knows. i know we got reserves that will last a few months that the govt has stashed a way so i hope thats enough to catch up where there missing now.

I just heard on the radio that in parts of GA there is a $10.00 limit on fuel per car and that prices were @ $4.99 per gal
And that fuel tankers were getting police escorts
Is there any truth to that?

All I know is that I'm tired of pushing my Camaro everywhere I go. I might have to get the chop out of storage and rock the mullet under a helmet until things get back to normal. I remember when I bought this car... Gas was $.88 per gallon. Damn, I miss the 80's. :D

i did see a picture in the paper where on a gas pump on the lil digital read out it said "limit reached" and it was like 30 bucks or somthing.

wouldnt u be able to just go to the next gas station and fillup then?

There are ways to help subside the cost of fuel! Its just a matter of them not wanting to! THey can start by releiving some of the state & fedral taxes. Next up they can start to regulate fuel prices....(As I see it... These prices are more due to demand and not so much on the supply)

Last up how about some fedral subsidy! Another thing that I see is that the reason we are paying so much for raw crude oil is that we are subsidising the cost of oil in Iran/Iraq. We are paying in upwards of $2.50g while they are paying $0.05g does anyone else see a problem with this?

I'll take $3.20 a gal, I filled up last night it was $2.739 this morning I pass a gas station it was $3.479 and thats for reg and they say $4.00 is a real possability

just saw the president on TV and some other guys. they said that they are aware of price gouging (sp) and they intend to go after them. so yea they have the stuff they are just trying to get you. is basicly what they said.

i just filled up at 2.79

I just swipe the card put the pump to automatic, crawl into the back seat and curl up into the fetal position while sucking on my thumb and wait for it to stop.

This will definitely be intresting the next few weeks. First lets start with gas the U.S. has reserves how much nobody really knows. From what has been said on tv that 30% of fuel comes from that area. So hopefully when the reserves start flowing prices should be stable. Now besides gas im really interested in how is the rest of the world going to view this? Let us not forget a few months ago we just sent millons of dollars in relief funds for tsunami. Will it be the same for us?

um i think its 700 million barrals. the last time they took it out was for a hurricane a year ago and they only took 5 mill out. and since bush said the reserves are open the gas price has actually went down like .5 percent. which is what like a cent or 2. so it may have stalled the panic for maybe a few hours.
