Garry Dean Method using distilled water

Any of you guys out there using distilled water while using the Garry Dean Method with rinseless washes like ONR, ONRWW or IUDJ? Is the Garry Dean Method and drying easier?

Thanks in advance,

I don't know that going to extra cost of distilled water would be worth it to be honest. In a rinseless wash method (Garry Dean or otherwise), you are generally drying a panel at a time so even if you have fairly hard water you're not likely to have problems with water spots.

I use distilled water exclusively; I noticed a pretty significant difference in how the product (IUDJ) performs with distilled water versus using tap water.

If there are any mineral deposits in your municipal or well-sourced supply, the polymers in the product are going to latch on to them leaving a lower concentration available to encapsulate dirt and particulates on the paint surface.

+1

The only benefit, IMO, if you have hard water and are compensating by adding more rinse-less wash, you could save product by using distilled water. It still may not make financial sense, but you won't be buying product as often. If it were me, I'd buy a portable water filter and use that water for rinse-less washing.

I use distilled for my spray bottle of IUDJ, but otherwise I'm OK with using deionized instead. For wheels/etc. I just use (softened and double-filtered) tap water.

5.Is there any advantage to using DI/distilled water to make the solution?: Softer water cooperates well with ONR. ONR's actives bond to the minerals of hard waters, therefore you may add more ONR to harder waters. DI/distilled water have no such minerals and the cleaning/protecting power of ONR can be exploited without weakening. These kind of waters will feel slimier than tap water.

I have a cr spotless system, but I don't bother using it with ONR. Then again, my water isn't particularly hard to begin with. I just go with the recommended dilution + tap water.

Anytime I add water to a detailing product , steamer , extractor etc I use distilled water. Local water is pretty hard and the distilled is cheap.

I always used distilled water. I buy several gallons at once. I use it to mix everything and for rinseless washes. Its probably not necessary, but it sure is nice.

For final rinse on 2BM I use CR Spotless.
