Garage/Shop overhaul

Funny story.........

That crown Royal was in an accident after the checkered flag, the left rear rim was mangled I asked the mechanics for the rim, wanted it for the shop.......a nice hose hanger! They almost gave it to me, but some big cheese said no they needed it for research? LOL

Lol, who knows. I'm guessing they were trying to salvage the middle piece from them. You never know, sometimes they give stuff like that away and other times they try to get whatever money back out of it from scrap or other means. I know they have about 3 wheels they're "researching" by the tire mounting machine right now lol.

Greg, I am in the midst of planning a remodeling of my garage for this spring. I am taking out my metal shelving, adding cabinets and an integrated work bench. On my list of things to do is re-painting the walls and ceiling, installing new overhead lighting, and putting in the interlocking floor as well as some little odds and ends. I received a quote today from racedeck and they are sending out samples next week. I wanted to know how your swisstrax flooring is holding up? I never heard of it before and went on their site and designed my floor pattern and it is actually around $500 cheaper for the swisstrax compared to the racedeck tuffshield and about $100 more compared to the racedeck diamond patter. In a nutshell, I am wondering if you are happy with the swisstrax product? Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some photos of swisstrax flooring.

Greg, I got my samples from Racedeck and Swisstrax (who sent 2). Anyway, after looking them both over, I agree that for the slight increase, Swisstrax is going to be the way to go, and is going to be the way I am going. I picked out the Slate Grey w/ Pearl Silver border (2 tiles in from the walls). My garage is 24x24, so I need to order 396 Slate Grey and 66 Pearl Silver. I am going to actuallty order 400 Slate Grey and 70 Pearl Silver just to have extras on hand; for a total of 470 tiles. I am going to order them now, and install them after I paint in the spring. I can't wait to order and get them in. The Floortrax is about the same thickness as the Racedeck, however, underneath, the Swisstrax is much 'beefier'. I did notice that when steping on the racedeck it squeeked a little, and didn't do that with the Swisstrax. They are both a nice finish, and both very anti-skid resistant. Keep in mind, the Racetrack is 12" blocks, while the Swisstrax are 13" (at least for Floortrax). Some of the Swisstrax tiles are 15". Anyway, I also like the 12 yr warranty, versus the 15 year pro-rated warranty. I can't wait to get rolling on this project and get some before and after pictures. Thanks for the advice!

Sounds great! Did you happen to call and talk with bridget to see about used flooring for sale? Slate grey is a common color they use for shows.

I've become more in love with Swisstrax due to a recent business sabotage from a person who likes RD.

It "looks" like a person that "works" for RD used their google reviews function to bad mouth my company on my google business posting. They also bad mouthed another flooring company here in SLC. I've filed a complaint and hope for resolution to my good name. THEY WERE NEVER A CLIENT.

You can see for yourself, use google search engine and type in reflections detailing of Utah find my business reviews, click on SLCguy and see what reviews he has done.........its fishy to say the least!

Cheers,

GREG

Greg, I spoke with Jesse. He was a pleasure to deal with. He said they are common colors and said I should expect delivery in about 2 weeks. I cant wait!

Was thinking about remodeling my garage. Noticed that you took all your drywall down and replaced it. Do I need to insulate when I take on this job?

I would insulate and upgrade the electrical. I even used 2/4 bracing for the new shelves so I didn't have legs for the cabinets. In a garage you should not skimp on electrical being done right, with plenty of new circuits, good lighting, and insulation in the walls. Even if you don't heat the space insulation will make a huge difference. I got much better R value on the blown in vs. the batts........the density is higher.

Sit down and think what are the outcomes I want, planning is a must. Kind of the prep work on paint is more important than the LSP you use.

Cheers,

GREG
