Garage Lighting

Sorry guys, I just realized this is in the wrong section. Anyhow, I'm ready to move forward with...something at least. Here's a picture of the garage.

My thoughts are the simplest and cheapest way to do it would be to utilize the existing electrical outlet and get these fixtures: All Weather 4 Ft. 2 Light T8 Fluorescent Unit Shop light-1242ZG RE at The Home Depot

Thinking of hanging 2 towards the front spread out over each bay and then two towards the rear. The catch would be that on the hot summer days when detailing I'm not going to want to have the garage door closed, so they will get covered up when it's open. However, at that point, I'm getting plenty of light coming in so I'll just lose the direct lighting on the car. Thoughts or suggestions?

Anybody know if someone sells a rollaround unit with multiple T8's mounted on it? Think a collapsed ping pong table with ballasts mounted on it, we had a much smaller similiar unit to roll around for when we did aircraft washes. Would seem relatively convenient for when you needed additional inspection lights and didn't like the painter's light stands most people use.

If you mount the lights as shone in the attached images you'll only block one when the door is open. These images are purposely underexposed to show the lights--each fixture has 2 bulbs and when I center a car in the middle gives plenty of light for washing, claying, sealing etc. If you are going to do any machine polishing you would need a few more fixtures as mentioned by others.

Not sure if anyone sells one, but it wouldn't be hard to make something like that....

seen something in body shops like it. not sure if they made it or bought it. probably wouldn't be had to make one.

Done, I'm very pleased with the outcome, given the 148 dollars I spent after tax. I'll have to replace the center CFL lights with a similar ~4100k bulb, but the overall light is dramatically improved. It won't help illuminate paint defects, but should make everything else easier.
