G35S, 1M, Tahoe

2008 Infiniti G35S. Originally I was going to detail his Porsche Carrera but he wants to get a few things done to it before handing it over to me. Paint wasn't too bad, light to moderate swirls, typically hard but consistent Nissan paint.

Optimum Hyper Compound using an Optimum microfiber cutting pad and my PC 7424 XP on speed 6 (for some reason, OHC is magical on Nissan paint)

Optimum Hyper Polish using an Optimum microfiber polishing pad and my PC on speed 6

Optimum Car Wax (left my Opti-Seal at a customer's house, trust OCW to hold up and its killer on silver)

Optimum Metal Polish on tips

Armor All on tires/fenderwells



Really hard to get swirls to show on silver, best I could get for a before and after:

2008 Chevy Tahoe and 2011 BMW 1M. The owner wanted the Tahoe cleaned up (his words were "make it look better") inside and out and the exterior of the 1M detailed. Main complaint was water spots on the rear of the car and stray bits of rubber from track use. It was out in the sun when we got there, paint was pretty much swirl free, the Tahoe, not so much. The back end had been repainted and they left buffer swirls everywhere. Plus the Tahoe was covered in tree sap. Not enough room in the garage for two vehicles so the Tahoe sits out in an "old money" neighborhood with huge trees everywhere. No real point in a full correction, it has door dings, scuffs on the mirrors and bumpers, main reason for the detail was the interior. Thanks to the sun being out all day, it was impossible to get good interior shots due to half of it being in the bright sun and half shaded.

Where the Tahoe was parked was about the only area in the driveway that it wasn't under any trees, not enough room to pull the 1M out without either it being under a tree or the Tahoe and with a mid-afternoon finish and trees in full sap dropping mode, I took the pics where we detailed each vehicle. Wet winter and spring, hot dry summer and we've got seriously leaky trees here.

Nice work as usual. What was used to get the track rubber off? I have heard anything from a quick wax spray detailer to an unconventional approach to peanut butter will easily remove it. I have fairly decent luck with 3M adhesive cleaner myself.

The wheels on the Infinity are looking sick. Silver wheels with polished lips are the next big trend and I don't mind it one bit.

What little left after claying was easily removed by OHP.



I like the wheels on the G35 too, only problem was the silver part appears to be anodized and was not cleared. Keeping them clean will be tough. Can't polish them because that adds shine that was intentionally left off.
