FX-100 Has Been Out of Stock for Months...Anyone know Why?

Troy seemed to be in a "decision making" position prior to Floyd's passing. Perhaps that changed with the company being sold:confused:

That's sorta the impression I got, that other people are making the big decisions.

Which is too bad, as Troy is a true enthusiast. I've had several conversations with him and he was very product oriented and seemed to actively seek customer inputs and feedback. I tested some of FK's products, thanks to Troy. They used to have an active forum and that's been long gone.

Not sure the direction now? IIRC, FK was mainly focused in the marine and aviation products, then thought there was potential application in the auto detailing areas.

landcruiser- Beats me.. I dunno what they're up to :nixweiss

But yeah, Torey is a true detailing enthusiast. He and I haven't always agreed on everything, but we always get along fine.

Having seen this reminder of FK I went out to the 95º garage to figure out where I put my last stash of the FK FX100. Gave it mucho shakes and spritzed it on the car wiping rapidly with a good towel. I had forgotten how really well this stuff makes paint look and feel. It really is a shame that it 'tis no more. The smell still makes me want to swig it with some Vodka in it! Got maybe 12 ounces left so it goes on my car not customers. Thanks for the reminder that I had some left.....got too much stuff!

I'm babying my last half bottle too. As I heard some raw material shortage was responsible for the disappearing.

BTW, the name of the guy is Torey L. Langmann. :)

I knew it was Torey! I asked his name and thought I remembered him saying Torey, but everyone else was referring to him as Troy, I thought I just remembered wrong.

Ah, I misheard him, and then remembered the incorrect "Troy". Thanks for correcting that, Bence . Sheesh, I think you told me that once when we were discussing FK stuff and it went right past me :o

On my last FK purchase, I asked for a sample of whatever they recommend to replace FX-100. They sent FK-216 Poly Wipe FX-Wet and Slick.

I applied it by hand with a Meg's foam applicator pad. I tried to remove with a MF but it was hard going. I grabbed the PC and a DF Towel and it came off with no problem.

It looks hi gloss similar to FX-100. Give it a try.

The lable says "removes scratches" (or words to that effect)..does this stuff contain any abrasives? One of the appealing things about the FX-100 was that being nonabrasive/noncleaning it could be used without disturbing whatever's already on the vehicle.

I just checked, it says it (216) "conceals" spiderwebbing. Has a "1" for "cleaning." But doesn't specifically say if it's non-abrasive, and it's listed in the "AIO" category as opposed to the 'Quick Detailing' that FX 100 is in.

Heh heh, sounds almost as ambigous as the product labels on certain Meguiar's products :chuckle:

FK are Meg's, Frank Meguiar is (I should say was) a cousin or uncle of Barry's--right?

Yes, FK216 had some slight cleaning to it. It was pretty quick to apply and remove or maybe I'm really slow applying the qd's. :wavey

It's to bad if they dont bring it back. It's still listed on the web site but just out of stock. They pulled a slick one on me. Thought it was actually back in stock when I was it.

Was an uncle. Company is not owned by Meguiar's, though. Bought by CarBrite or AutoBrite or something.

Pretty sure that was a fairly recent purchase though (last year or so?). Some of their products have that familiar #7 color/smell to them. Seems that prior to the sale, Torey had significant product inputs.

Just too bad that one of "our" favorite products of theirs is no longer available.
