FX-100 Has Been Out of Stock for Months...Anyone know Why?

OK I just called Finish Kare:

While the FX-100 has not been officially discontinued, it is not expected to return for a while :( I was told that 217 is the closest equivalent and can be use very sparingly in a spray bottle to mimic FX-100.

I think PakShak has some. FX-100

Welcome to Autopia!

Unfortunately, PakShak doesn't have any of it either. Ranney really oughta just take it off the website but that might be easier said than done.

I'm guessing that you spoke with Torey at FK. I came right out and offered to buy an entire production run of it and the bottom line is that, well, don't hold your breath.

I get the feeling that Torey isn't authorized to make an official pronouncement about the future of FX100 and that the powers that be at FK don't want people to give up hope. I can't help but wonder if VOC regs factor into this

It was not Troy, but rather a gentleman with a quite unusual name (Beneton?).

Was (is?) FX-100 basically a spray on wipe off sealant?

It does seem strange that FK1 would discontinue an item like this. It's one type of product that would be missing from their lineup.

I think Accumulator is probably on to something re the VOC regs.

I've got about 30 oz from a 32oz bottle left. I think it was probably one of the last bottles that Pakshak had last year. I haven't wanted to use anymore of it since it looked like it was being discontinued.

Shall I start the bidding?

Yeah, though AFAIK it has some kind of wax in it too. I'd probably call it a synthetic blend spray wax.

Note that even overseas buyers can't get the FK100..for whatever reason, it really does seem like that product is history.

So yeah, I'd be holding onto any if I had it too :D But I'd also keep an eye on it so it doesn't just go bad. Noting that I'm the guy who stockpiles stuff and is always using *OLD* products, I'd still pay attention for any signs of deterioration. Some people talked about how FK100 had stuff precipitate out (I think it was the "wax stuff" in its mix) and not always mix back up, so it just *might* be a product with a limited shelf-life.

I've got one bottle left too. What I do, is after I shake it, I just put my finger inside and remove the accumulated "stuff" and try as best I can to get most of it back in the spray bottle then shake it again. i think my "re-capture" rate is probably about 50%:nixweiss

Troy seemed to be in a "decision making" position prior to Floyd's passing. Perhaps that changed with the company being sold:confused:

I bought some FK100 a couple years ago and used it a few times and then stopped..after reading this thread I was going to retry it...well it sorta separated....looks like curdled milk in coffee...I shook it and it will not go back to its original state...and its been kept in a climate controlled area....around 70 all year long....it looks like a snow globe..lol...

so any one who has some I would shake it on occasion to keep it mixed...

Al...mine separates all the time. I have to shake it constantly. Fortunately mine has reached the "curdled milk" stage :(

Funny thread!

I felt this way when KAIO changed the formula 'panic'. I still have 1 virgin bottle left, and often wonder why I don't just use it up, and move on.

I just boxed up 3 bottles of FX-100, and 2 bottles of FX-185, which looks like it has been discontinued also.

I'll have to look around because I think I have 2-3 more bottles somewhere in my stockpile/OCD collection of detailing supplies (LOL). I don't use it any longer, so you guys are welcome to it.

Send me a PM with your address.

Wow, that didn't take long. I hope the new owner enjoys the FX-100!

Maybe the guys at FK will notice this and consider putting some more on the shelf.
