Forward this to anyone as you feel appropriate. I sent this to as many people as I could this morning after remembering the original e-mail and rewording it...hook

Turn On Your Lights for America

Note: this message originally circulated shortly after the shooting in Littleton, Colorado. I thought of it this morning as I drove to work, and have reworded it. I believe this is a simple gesture that can be an outward sign of our grief, compassion, and resolve in the face of the tragedies Tuesday in New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.

---

As I was driving to work this morning, I was thinking about all of the lives lost, and the terrible, widespread heartache caused by the hideous and cowardly acts of terror that occurred yesterday. I passed a car on the highway that had a small American flag stuck in the window, rippling in the wind as the car drove, showing everyone the driver’s faith in this great country. What a wonderful, simple gesture. But, I thought to myself, what can I do to show others that I too am deeply affected by this tragedy?

Turn on a light. Turn on my headlights. Turn on my porch light. But how do I get this message to others? Use the Internet. I'm sending this message to everyone on my email list and am asking that you do the same.

I am going to turn on my headlights every morning on my way to and from work, on Saturday as I run my errands and especially on Sunday as I go to my place of worship. I'm also going to turn on my porch lights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

I'm going to turn on my lights for the families everywhere who have been effected by this tragedy to show them that I care about them, that I feel the pain and hurt and heartache. I'm going to turn on my lights for what is right and strong about this country. I'm going to turn on my lights against the darkness, the anger and the evil. I hope you will join me. One light is not much but put them together and we will light up the world.

Turn on your lights - show that you stand for what is right about America, and that we will not be weak in the face of evil and darkness. And as you turn on your headlights and porch lights this weekend; turn on the light in your heart and soul. Show the world what America is all about, show the world it’s strength and resolve. With your light shining bright, along with others, we can come together (if only for a brief moment) and combat the evil that confronts us all.

Please pass this email on to everyone on your address list. Lets see if we can get this message to everyone across this great country, and to the whole world, before Friday morning.

God Bless America.

Mine too. And Thursday is Red White and Blue day! Show your colors, everyone! Wear R, W and B!

:bounce

Brad B.,

I put my flag out today as a show of support. Fly your flags everyone, we are Americans and proud of it!

Flag out, lights on, red white and blue being worn tomorrow.

Everyone please forward this to as many people in your address books as you feel comfortable.

thanks,

Andy

I can do that considering my headlights are PIAA SuperWhites and my cornering lamps have a bluish tint to them. I will be wearing red tomorrow anyway:D

had mine on this morning (I have daytime running lamps anyway) but not many other cars had their lights on, maybe it'll catch on tomorrow

Dunno if it will catch on or not, we'll see. Geometric progressions are amazing things, so if each of youmailed it to 10 ppl, and they mailed it to 10 ppl...you get the idea.

Anyone know where you might be able to buy a small (12" or so) flag? I wanna put one on the "flagpole" I have for my window that normally gets the Blue UK during basketball season.

blue skies,

Andy

someone in my neighborhood, stuck flags in the grass below everone's mailboxes

when i came back from work it was pretty cool, gave me chills to see every house in the neighborhood to have a flag (he must have had them left over from the 4th, cause I don't imagine flags being on sale in that volume on that short a notice)

maybe i'll take a picture of it and send it to any news places :)

I saw a Classic.

Near the yard that I work out of there is a river bottom that is on the edge of an Indian Reservation that is pretty much undevelopped. There is a narrow strip of land between the river and the Freeway. Homeless people have taken up residence in this strip, and have built ramshackle huts to live in. One has uilt a stone house that he lives in. Out in Front an a makeshift pole was an American flag that he was flying proudly. I am going to get a picture of it tomorrow.

I don't often see the Forum home page as I as my browser link takes me directly to the Forums where I usually click on New Posts bypassing the home page. I looked it over today and noticed some interesting statistics and removed my mittens and slippers in order to do some cypherin'.

Of the total TID membership of 2087 Bill Luster represtents less than .05% of total membership. With 2787 posts out of a total of of 24,631 his comprise 11.3% of total posts. :hurray: Which leads me to question whether the rest of us are complete slackers or he's definitely got too much time on his hands. I suppose this is totally inaccurate by now as in the time it took me to figure this out Bill probably made 10 more posts and added 5 more polls.

I'm looking forward to "Every Day Is Saturday" in another year and a half. Can't get much better than having your time be your own.

Now get out there and get that inspection sticker secured and go out and find that grimey SUV and wash it for him! You apparently have the time!

Crakin' me up TL!!!! SLACKER!!!!:cornut:

Combination of both... Lots of (quality) time on my hands and lots of SLACKERS here....:w00t:

Seriously guys... no one wants this to become the "Luster Forum"!!! (heaven forbid!) So lets step it up a notch!!!

Bill,

We all tried to keep up with you during the Big Kahuna Contest. Even with those GREAT prizes staring us in the face, nobody could keep up with you.

Keep it up, you da man:thumbup:

Ain't nobody gonna ever catch Bill Luster. That guy is a post machine. Bill could take a 2 year hiatus, come back and still be on top :out:

Bill, I for one appreciate ALL of your threads/post :Dancing Dot:
