So I recently purchased a large porter cable 7424 polishing kit and I've been having a heck of a time with both the PC, and my polishes. Well I've finally figured out half of whats wrong. The rivets on my backing plate rub against the counterweight, making the pad unable to spin freely, instead it has to follow the path of the counterweight. Well, before I'd figured this out the PC was operating very loudly, and vibrating a lot, and was very frustrating. I'm sending the PC and backing plate back now. Anyone run into this problem before? Is my PC counterweight sitting too high? Is this a messed up backing plate? I'd really like to avoid running into this problem again.
