Frustrated with my new watch

Good. I hope it fits better now. I had to change the fine adjustment twice to get it to fit me the best.

Worked much better. Had to skip two fine adjustments to make the watch band fit well. Will see how it fits throughout the day. Its a great watch. A little bulky, but I hope this watch will last for a good long time. I got tired of resin wrist bands breaking every two years :furious: . Thanks again!

Yeah, I think metal bands look a lot better, and I'd hope they're much more durable. I'm very happy with this watch so far. My favorite part is the automatic backlight that senses the motion of twisting your wrist to look at the watch, and it automatically turns on the light. Neat little function that is.

Yep, here's his buddy Bowser, the reason why I find 1-3 minnows missing each morning. :)

Hey Seikoguy - I bought a Seiko "Kinetic" runs off general movement. The problem I've been having with it is the time set knob (I don't know the correct terminology, pardon my ignorance) will pop out on its own sometimes stopping the watch. Also the watch has a button to be able to check the charge level of the watch. Well when the button gets pressed by me reaching in my pocket the watch will stop. I have to fool with the button to get it started again. I don't realize the watch stopped until I check the time, so its aggravating. Ever seen a problem like this with Seiko's?

I assumed because of your username you may know a thing or two about Seikos??

General Lee,

I am a huge fan of Seikos but have had zero interest in their Kinetic line. Simply put, it was a solution to a problem that didn't exist. About 99% of my watches are pure mechanical while the remaining 1% are either battery-powered or solar-powered. The Kinetic movement is really a quartz watch that is powered by a capacitor charged via a rotor - not a true mechanical and not a true battery-powered timepiece. I've only owned one Kinetic in my lifetime, and when it died, I did the only logical thing - I walked into my kitchen, and threw it in the trash. (The reason it died is because the capacitor was not able to hold a charge anymore and it had to be replaced. I just didn't care to deal with it.) Sorry, I can't help you with anything pertaining to Kinetics.

Just had an afterthought - try posting your question on the best Seiko/Citizen Watch Forum on the internet. Someone there might be able to help you - SCWF

I have three Seiko kinetics, while not a huge fan of them they are fairly reliable watches. It seems like you have a defective one. If it is under warranty, send it in, if not, find another. Even if you get it fixed, the capacitor will eventually die requiring a replacement. IMO Seiko and Citizen as well as a few other mfg's are less than honest about the never needing a battery again business. The capacitors have a finite life span, which in most cases is about 2x the life of a battery. Replacement is fairly easy, I have done it on one of mine, the parts are about $15 from ebay.
