Fruit on my paint! Is this a problem?

I know this is bizarre, but sometimes thats just how things are. Where I have to park my car at home, small soft plums fall on my car. I'm not worried about them scratching the car, but they land on the car and the skins, juice, and pulp stick to the car. I figure fruit can be acidic, so I was wondering if the fruit is likely bad for the paint like a bird poop can be.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Have you had any damage so far? I would be more concerned about staining, as well as any birds sitting in the tree eating your plums. You could always pick them first and eat them yourself!

I think we are all overlooking the simple solution of chopping down all the plum trees near your car.

Or our OP just has to start eating a lot more plums! (if they're edible... otherwise :scared: )

Plums--good for you, bad for your paint. If you can park elsewhere, you gotta, but save some plums for eating. Lots of fiber, and taste good. Every bit as bad for your paint as bird bombs.

At least it's not that hard to keep a bottle of QD and some MF towels in your trunk for those special cases. I have some in mine right now for bird bombs and what not.

Wow, lots of opinions on this. I can't chop down the plum tree because I rent, and the alternative to parking in the driveway is getting a lot of parking dings and/or having my car stolen (again). It would also be tough to pick down all the plums. I don't live on a great street I guess. I do clean the car ASAP but this happens during the day while I'm at work. Right now I've got my car sealed with Klasse SG and I have that topped with DG Aquawax, so hopefully that gives me some protection from the plums of terror.

I haven't noticed any damage yet, but that doesn't mean there isn't more than meets the eye. Apparently most fruits are basic, but plums are in fact acidic.
